An era of Punk that many fans often cite as their favourite is his time with the Straight Edge Society in 2009 and 2010 on SmackDown, and Punk himself also looks back fondly on the run.

Speaking to You Better You Bet, Punk was asked about his time in the Straight Edge Society, noting that he believes it to be his ‘most underrated’ iteration.

He said:

“If I was to say what was the most underrated iteration of CM Punk or moments in my career, I would definitely say that.

“The Straight Edge Society was kind of near and dear to me. I had, not free rein, but I had a lot to do with the character direction and what we did.

“What I wanted to do a lot of times got caboshed, but I did manage to sneak through a lot of stuff that I never thought we would be allowed to do on television.”
