A championship match has been confirmed for the upcoming WWE No Mercy premium live event next month in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
At this past weekend’s WWE Heatwave premium live event, Oba Femi made the latest defence of his NXT Championship, defeating Je’von Evans in the show’s main event.
After the match, he was confronted in the ring by Ricky Saints, as well as Josh Briggs watching on from the crowd, both men clearly taking aim at Oba’s title.
On tonight’s episode of NXT, a number one contender’s match took place between Briggs and Saints, with the winner earning the right to face off with Oba for the NXT Championship at WWE No Mercy next month.
Saints ended up scoring the win, earning him his first NXT Championship match since arriving on the brand back in February following his AEW departure.
Oba Femi vs. Ricky Saints isn’t the only championship match set for the show, as Lola Vice’s victory over Kelani Jordan and Jaida Parker at Heatwave earned her an NXT Women’s Championship match with Jacy Jayne on the show.
