An update has emerged on potential backstage heat involving AJ Styles and how it ties into a potential WWE departure.

A few days ago, AJ Styles caused a lot of discourse on social media when he posted an image of a sand timer running out.

This was taken as an indication that his career, or at least his time with WWE, is winding down to the point that it’s very much on his mind.

With Styles’ contract believed to be up in just a few months, it’s led to a lot of questions as to whether he’ll end up leaving the company when that time comes.

Last night during WWE Raw, this was seemingly played up as Styles cut an in-ring promo during the commercial break, which aired in international markets but not the US.

Part of the reason for it being done during the commercials was likely to create some kind of illusion that he was saying something he wasn’t supposed to be saying – which is actually a line that Styles himself said.

He essentially said that “somebody” in WWE doesn’t want him there and has put him in a position where he can’t succeed, and has no allies left to back him up.

He then specifically named former WWE stars Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, who were released earlier this year, as two of those allies that had been taken away from him.

In an update in terms of WWE’s follow-up on the promo, WWE has posted it on its website and YouTube channel, so it’s evidently something the company wants out there for storyline purposes and isn’t something it’s trying to hide.

An interesting note is the title and description of the video.

The video is titled ‘AJ Styles GOES OFF on Monday Night Raw officials’, and the description is:

‘The Phenomenal’ AJ Styles doesn’t hold back in his criticism towards unnamed Monday Night Raw officials.

The only ‘Raw official’ that’s ever really been highlighted on TV is General Manager Adam Pearce, but Styles hasn’t shown any particular signs of hostility towards him in recent weeks.

We’ll keep you posted if any further details emerge on the direction this storyline is heading in and AJ Styles’ future with WWE.
