An AEW star has admitted that they thought their in-ring career was “probably” over during her most recent injury absence.
It has been over seven months since AEW fans have gotten to see Thunder Rosa compete inside a wrestling ring, with the former AEW Women’s World Champion’s last match being the Women’s Casino Gauntlet Match at All In: Texas on July 12.
While the exact nature of her injury has never been disclosed, Rosa will be returning to action against Julia Hart on the Saturday, February 21 episode of AEW Collision.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Rosa expressed her excitement ahead of her return, and how she wants to prove to herself that she can still compete at the highest level:
“I’m excited. There’s like five different feelings I’m feeling right now. I feel a knot in my stomach I got nerves, it’s always good to have nerves right before a big return.
“This would be the second time that I’ve been gone for a long period of time. I’ve been out for eight months, I can tell you therapy, physical therapy was key for me to come back the way I came back. It was rough and just the fact that I had to take smaller steps, even do like simple things, it took me a while and it was very scary.
“So now the pressure is on even more for myself, because I have nothing to prove to anyone. I want to make this very clear, everything that I’m doing I’m doing to prove to myself that I still got it, that I deserve this spot. I get an opportunity again, life gives me the opportunity again to do something that I’ve worked so hard for for the last 12 years. I am beyond excited.”

Rosa would then open up about the personal struggles she faced during her absence, admitting that she questioned whether she would return to AEW at all during the “dark times”:
“I have a message for everyone who’s been super supportive, by the way, for my comeback. It’s not to give up, especially during dark times, because this injury believe me was dark. There was some moments I was like I’m probably never gonna wrestle again.
“So, I’m extremely excited for Collision to wrestle Julia Hart, become a champion again, do my best and just show even better than the last time you saw me.”
