WWE’s current roster is both expansive and full of talent, yet several performers remain underutilised.
History shows that a change of gimmick can reignite a career. From Isaac Yankem becoming Kane to unpopular babyface Roman Reigns evolving into the Tribal Chief, WWE has a tradition of successful transformations.
The following stars could all benefit from a change in gimmicks to kickstart their careers.
6. Otis

On the 5 May edition of Raw, Otis faced the returning Rusev in a six-minute meat fest – a heavy-hitting hoss battle between two large humans.
For years, Otis has been saddled with a comedic gimmick that’s kept him stuck in the lower mid-card.
His showing in this bout proved he’s capable of much more – as a serious, hard-striking powerhouse.
A gimmick change ditching the comedy could finally let Otis rise beyond novelty status.

5. Lexis King

Lexis King has recently been dubbed the “Gatekeeper of NXT” – a role that suggests he’s there to lose to rising stars.
While capable in the ring, the current gimmick is notably limiting, stalling his potential for any form of renewed push.
As the son of the legendary Brian Pillman, re-embracing his real name, utilising the “Loose Cannon” gimmick, could help to propel his career forwards
We may soon see the disappearance of Lexis King – and the re-emergence of Brian Pillman Jr. as he steps up to the main roster.

4. Ludwig Kaiser

In recent months, Ludwig Kaiser has been relegated to WWE’s C-show, Main Event – a far cry from where his talents belong.
At 34, the German star is one of the most underutilised wrestlers on the roster: a crisp in-ring technician with underrated charisma.
He’s a natural, detestable heel — but desperately needs a repackaged gimmick and fresh direction.
A move from Raw to SmackDown could provide the reset needed to capitalise on his full potential.

3. New Catch Republic

Since reuniting at the end of March, the New Catch Republic – Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate – have also seemingly found themselves relegated to Main Event.
Individually and as a team, they’re among the most talented workers in WWE, yet they’re currently languishing at the foot of the roster.
A refreshed look and a move to SmackDown’s stacked tag division could deliver standout bouts against the likes of Fraxiom, Motor City Machine Guns, and The Street Profits.
Could we soon see a revamped New Catch Republic making waves on Friday nights?

2. Natalya

Natalya has been with WWE since 2007, playing an often underappreciated role in elevating the women’s division and raising the standard of in-ring work.
After years with the company, she rarely appears in a prominent role on television, she is, however, actively working to reinvent herself.
Despite being under a WWE contract, she has competed outside the company – wrestling at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport during WrestleMania week and challenging for the NWA Women’s World Title at the legendary Crockett Cup event.
At these appearances, she’s embraced a more aggressive style under her original ring name, Nattie Neidhart — this is a persona shift that could breathe new life into her WWE character.

1 Jimmy Uso

At Money in the Bank, Jey Uso is set for a star-studded tag match with Cody Rhodes against John Cena and Logan Paul – undoubtedly one of the show’s biggest and anticipated bouts.
Jimmy Uso, by contrast, failed to qualify for the ladder match and currently has no spot on the card.
As Jey’s WWE career soars, Jimmy feels increasingly stagnant.
A gimmick change appears essential if he’s to avoid being remembered as the forgotten half of The Usos.
