There is only one episode of Friday Night SmackDown remaining ahead of this Sunday’s WWE Clash In Paris 2025 premium live event.

In front of what should be an electric crowd in Lyon, the company will try to deliver one more exciting night before the big PLE that will see titles up for grabs and grudges coming to an end.

While it is just one show, the August 29 episode of SmackDown could feature some significant changes that shift things dramatically ahead of WWE Clash In Paris 2025.

Here are six potential changes to WWE SmackDown before Clash In Paris 2025.

6. Logan Paul Exerts Dominance Over John Cena

On the August 22 edition of WWE SmackDown, John Cena cut a scathing promo breaking down Logan Paul and why the fans do not like him before laying out his rival with an AA.

However, a speech from Drew McIntyre led to Paul getting a measure of revenge by knocking out Cena with his titanium right hand punch to close the show.

Heading into WWE Clash In Paris 2025, it should be interesting to see who gets the last laugh between the two men before they clash in a first time singles meeting.

Paul knocking out Cena one more time on Friday’s WWE SmackDown would be a great way to exert his dominance and gain further momentum before Clash In Paris 2025.

5. Secret Hervice Earn A Shot At Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair For The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Over the past few weeks, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair may have found their first real threat to their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship reign in Chelsea Green’s Secret Hervice.

Piper Niven and Alba Fyre have been a thorn in the side of Flair and Bliss ever since Charlotte delivered an Unprettier on Green into Alexa’s birthday cake on the August 8 episode of WWE SmackDown.

Since then, Niven scored a singles victory over Flair on the August 22 episode and showcased that they can beat the tag champions.

Niven and Fyre officially becoming the number one contenders for Charlotte and Alexa’s gold would set things up for a future title match down the line on WWE SmackDown.

4. Ethan Page Debuts Alongside Chelsea Green

Ethan Page has gone from strength to strength during his 18 month run in WWE so far.

It only took “All Ego” two months to capture the NXT Championship and is now enjoying his first reign as NXT North American Champion.

Most recently, Page has been on a campaign to push the values of being Canadian with the country’s flag designed on the North American Title strap and getting assistance from fellow Canadian, Chelsea Green.

Following recent reports of the potential of Page joining Green on the brand, fans could see this new Team Canada make their presence felt on WWE SmackDown as soon as the August 29 episode ahead of Clash In Paris 2025.

3. The Miz Turns On Carmelo Hayes

The Miz recently made his return to WWE after being absent for several weeks to host the new American Gladiators reboot series.

Reuniting with Carmelo Hayes, Melo Don’t Miz has become the hottest new tag team on the WWE SmackDown brand.

Now that the duo are one win away from a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships, it doesn’t seem like the Street Profits will have enough to overcome Miz and Melo.

However, a loss against Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins could bring a bigger change where The Miz decides that Melo is dead weight and turns on his younger protege.

2. A New Number One Contender For The WWE Women’s Championship Determined

Speaking of number one contenders, there has been some confusion in regards to who is next to challenge Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship.

Coming off the heels of her win against Jade Cargill at WWE SummerSlam 2025, it felt like Stratton had cleared the line of potential challengers for the time being.

In recent weeks, the likes of Cargill, Nia Jax and Giulia have all threw their names into the hat to be next up against “Tiffy Time.”

Stratton finding out her next challenger should be a high priority for GM Nick Aldis and should get done by the end of the August 29 episode of WWE SmackDown.

1. Cody Rhodes Returns For The First Time Since Attack By Drew McIntyre

On the August 8 edition of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes and John Cena defeated Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul via disqualification. Post match, Cena and Paul brawled to the back, while McIntyre brutally attacked Rhodes, leaving him laying.

In the weeks since then, Rhodes has been sidelined recovering from this beatdown at the hands of McIntyre.

Ahead of WWE Clash In Paris 2025, fans should see “The American Nightmare” make his comeback to the company’s programming very soon.

The August 29 episode of SmackDown could see Cody make his return and go after McIntyre in a bid to get vengeance for the beating he received.
