WWE just held its Night of Champions premium live event, with a number of headlines coming out of it.
With the King & Queen of the Ring winners crowned, as well as a brand new Undisputed WWE Champion in the main event, it was a noteworthy show in terms of the road to SummerSlam.
Here are six things we learned at WWE Night of Champions 2026.
6. WWE Has Its Priorities Right With Oba Femi & Jey Uso
Coming into WWE Night of Champions, a lot of fans were questioning whether Oba Femi or Jey Uso would win the King of the Ring final.
While the general consensus was that Femi would be the right call, there was some concern that WWE would prioritize Bloodline drama and the ‘Yeet’ effect of Jey Uso – especially with the possibility of Brock Lesnar coming in to cost Femi the match.
However, none of that happened, and WWE made the right call with Femi winning the match in decisive fashion.
The next step should be Femi winning whichever world title he decides to go after at SummerSlam.
5. Seth Rollins Could Be Heading To The World Championship Picture – But It Depends On Oba Femi
Seth Rollins’ win over Bron Breakker in their Night of Champions steel cage match indicates that WWE has big plans imminently for Rollins, otherwise the better thing to do would have been for the younger Breakker to go over.
This could potentially be Rollins going after the World Heavyweight Championship currently held by Roman Reigns, possibly at SummerSlam, in a match that was originally planned for WrestleMania 42 this past April before Rollins’ injury.
However, as Rollins even noted in his post-show interview, Rollins getting that shot against Reigns at SummerSlam depends on Oba Femi’s decision – Femi could choose to challenge Reigns at SummerSlam via his King of the Ring win, which would close that door for Rollins.
This could be an indication that Femi will actually be going after the Undisputed WWE Championship instead, saving a match between himself and Reigns for later down the line.
4. A Night Of Champions Rematch Set For SummerSlam
As for the Queen of the Ring final, that was won by IYO SKY, who defeated Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan.
There are no question marks as to who SKY will be challenging at SummerSlam in her world title match, as she’s already made that announcement.
Immediately after defeating Morgan today, SKY announced she chooses a rematch against Morgan at SummerSlam with the Women’s World Title on the line.
That means SummerSlam won’t play host to a RHIYO battle between SKY and WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, though that could instead take place at Crown Jewel later this year for the Crown Jewel Title if they’re both champions at that point.
3. Nick Aldis Vs. GUNTHER At WWE SummerSlam?

GUNTHER, not happy with the result of the Undisputed WWE Championship match at Night of Champions, confronted SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis backstage during the post-show.
GUNTHER called Aldis a failed professional wrestler before the two got into a scuffle, with Aldis even initiating contact and not backing down one bit.
This does seem to be the biggest hint we’ve had so far at Aldis stepping back into the ring, perhaps for a match against GUNTHER at SummerSlam if not somewhere else.
There have been teases in the past that haven’t led to an in-ring return for the former TNA and NWA World Heavyweight Champion, so it isn’t a guarantee, but this does appear to be the biggest one yet.
2. WWE Needs To Improve Saudi Arabia Production For WrestleMania 43
WWE will be revisiting Saudi Arabia next year in April for WrestleMania 43.
With that being the case, WWE needs to make some significant improvements to its production for that event.
Today’s show was filled with audio issues and there were some visual issues as well – not the first time that’s been the case for a show emanating from Saudi Arabia.
WWE needs to figure things out to ensure no production disasters for Mania next year.
1. Sami Zayn Is A WWE World Champion
It took 10 attempts, but Sami Zayn is now a WWE World Champion.
Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER to become Undisputed WWE Champion in the main event of Night of Champions today.
This shows that, despite all that’s been said over the years, with all the top talent that WWE has to choose from today, it does trust Zayn in this position after all.
We’ll see what comes of the reign and how long it lasts, but Zayn will forever be able to say that he was the WWE Champion – and he did it at a time where that feat is not easy to accomplish.
