WrestleMania already feels like a distant memory, as the ever-shifting landscape of WWE continues to evolve.

In the week following the show, major stars like Rusev and Aleister Black made their long-awaited returns.

With big summer events like Money in the Bank and SummerSlam on the horizon, more new faces are likely to debut in the months ahead.

Here are six potential new signees we could see in a WWE ring very soon.

6. Mariah May

AEW star Mariah May, potentially joining WWE

AEW star Mariah May recently posted a cryptic Instagram story, showing a photo from a plane window alongside the quote: “You can’t make the wrong decision because every decision leads you to where you’re supposed to be.”

The message has sparked speculation that the 26-year-old is vying for a move to WWE.

Despite delivering one of AEW’s most talked-about and visually stunning matches of the year – a blood-soaked classic against Toni Storm for the Women’s World Championship at Revolution – May is reportedly looking to leave AEW when her contract expires this summer.

With her undeniable star power and consistent presence on AEW television, it seems increasingly likely that she could appear in a WWE ring sooner rather than later, the real question is: does she go straight to the main roster on Raw or SmackDown, or take a short detour through NXT first?

5. Jonathan Gresham

Grappling savant Jonathan Gresham is currently a free agent, with his contract with TNA expiring in January.

The former Ring of Honor World Champion has been quietly delivering standout performances on the independent circuit, including one of WrestleMania weekend’s most memorable bouts against Zack Sabre Jr. at Josh Barnett’s shoot-style event, Bloodsport, as well as a dominating grappling exhibition at Winner’s Circle Pro-Wrestling against Alpha Zo.

Although Gresham has never wrestled for WWE, the fact his wife, Jordynne Grace, is signed to NXT, raises the possibility that Gresham may soon follow suit.

Maybe we could soon see the “Octopus” tying opponents in knots on Tuesday nights in a WWE ring.

4. Jeff Cobb

New WWE signing Jeff Cobb

Heavyweight star Jeff Cobb’s departure from New Japan Pro-Wrestling was confirmed on April 14.

A spectacular powerhouse in the ring, Cobb is a former IWGP Tag Team Champion and World Television Champion, known for his explosive strength and breath-taking agility.

Rumors of his WWE signing have circulated for some time, with reports suggesting his name has already appeared on the company’s internal roster.

With WWE’s Backlash PLE on 10 May fast approaching, perhaps that’ll be when the former Olympian finally makes his WWE debut.

3. Mike D Vecchio

Mike D Vecchio was one of the standout independent performers of WrestleMania week, appearing on several indie shows – in one of which he took a terrifying powerbomb off the top of a cage through a table!

Recently, the 28-year-old Belgian has been making waves in the legendary Japanese promotion All Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he has been quickly getting over with the company’s fans.

D Vecchio is a star in the making, possessing on-screen charisma, impressive promo ability, and a hard-hitting, intense in-ring style.

Appearing to be readymade for television, it wouldn’t be a shock if D Vecchio soon signs with WWE.

2. Mayu Iwatani

32-year-old Mayu Iwatani announced on Monday that she is leaving Stardom, Japan’s biggest joshi promotion.

Long regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the world, Iwatani recently lost the IWGP Women’s Championship in a brutal battle against former UFC fighter Syuri at Stardom’s blockbuster All-Star Grand Queendom show.

Her next destination appears to be Marigold – the new rival joshi promotion led by her mentor, Rossy Ogawa – which has a working relationship with WWE.

WWE has reportedly been interested in Iwatani for years, dating back to when they signed Kairi Sane in 2017 – with all the pieces now in place, could a long-awaited move finally be about to happen?

1. Zack Sabre Jr.

In 2023, Zack Sabre Jr. reached the pinnacle in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, winning both the gruelling G1-Climax tournament and the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Achieving these accolades was the culmination of over two decades plying his trade around the globe, becoming the most complete and exciting technical wrestler of his generation.

After dropping the IWGP title to Hirooki Goto in February, it could be questioned whether there is anything left for him to achieve in Japan.

Having only appeared once in WWE, in 2016’s Cruiserweight Classic tournament, now could be the time to dazzle their audience with his superlative submission skills.
