El Grande Americano has experienced a whole new level of popularity since becoming a mainstay on the AAA brand.
Following his match of the year against “Original El Grande Americano” Chad Gable at Noche de Los Grandes, the former “Ludwig Kaiser”s momentum has only grown, with the star winning the AAA Mega Championship at Triplemanía 34.
Following a successful title defense against Dominik Mysterio during the first week of Heroes Inmortales on October 24, there has been some speculation about other main roster stars who could face the popular luchador.
Here are three main roster stars who could soon square off against El Grande Americano.
Penta
Penta has been one of the main links between the WWE main roster and AAA, with the Mexican star being a top prospects on both brands.
While many are expecting the 2026 Money in the Bank ladder match winner to focus on the Raw main event scene, we could see him further establish himself as a top AAA star.
One way to do this would be to challenge for El Grande Americano’s AAA Mega Championship, a championship he has yet to hold, despite his history with pre-WWE AAA.
With many questioning the omission of El Grande Americano from the World Heavyweight Championship #1 contender’s tournament, it would be interesting to see him face the tournament winner.
CM Punk
CM Punk competed in the main event of the most recent Worlds Collide event, teaming with El Grande Americano and Rey Mysterio against Dominik Mysterio, Omos and JD McDonagh.
Punk notably took a trip down memory lane with this appearance, making his entrance to his old “This Fire Burns” entrance theme and wearing his Straight Edge Society mask.
If Punk wants to share the ring with AAA talent again, we could see him face off against the AAA Mega Champion.
The former Undisputed WWE Champion could be a key talent to wrestle on the upcoming Worlds Collide Doomsday show, which will take place on December 15.
Chad Gable
With the Grande Americanos’ Mask vs Mask match at Noche de Los Grandes often touted as a match of the year contender, there has been some speculation about a potential rematch.
With many predicting that Chad Gable and El Grande Americano will have a significant interaction in the upcoming Team USA vs Team Mexico match at Survivor Series, we could see seeds sown for another singles match.
The two stars have had pretty parallel careers since their Mask vs Mask bout, with Chad Gable reigning with the Intercontinental Championship and Americano winning the AAA Mega Title.
With Gable previously vowing to return to AAA, the former Olympian would be fondly welcomed back as a challenger for El Grande Americano.
