WWE Legends To Return At Wrestlepalooza 2025

WWE Wrestlepalooza takes place this Saturday, September 20.

Mark Shapiro, chief operating officer of WWE parent company TKO, has said the aim is to make Wrestlepalooza an annual event on par with WrestleMania or SummerSlam.

The card reflects that ambition, with a possible final clash between John Cena and Brock Lesnar set to headline, and the in-ring return of AJ Lee after a decade away in a mixed tag with CM Punk against Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins – a match arguably hotter than the main event.

But given the importance WWE is placing on the show, big-name returns from legends also seem likely – here are five of those legends who could appear.

5. The Undertaker

Recent months have seen The Undertaker take a more active role in WWE, appearing on-screen as a coach for the LFG program while also making sporadic appearances on NXT television.

Behind the scenes, he has also – rather curiously – been involved with WWE’s newly purchased lucha libre promotion AAA.

It’s clear the Hall of Famer wants to remain a permanent fixture in the company where he built his legendary career.

With Wrestlepalooza being established as a major PLE, there’s certainly a possibility that The Undertaker could make an appearance.

4. Paige

Speculation has been rife since Saraya left AEW at the start of the year about an imminent WWE return under her Paige persona.

So far this hasn’t materialized, with the 33-year-old saying she’s yet to have talks with the company.

In recent weeks, AJ Lee’s return has been met rapturously from WWE’s fanbase.

With Lee now back in the fold, could we also see the return of one of her most famous opponents – Paige – and could it happen as soon as Wrestlepalooza?

3. The Rock

In terms of returning legends, it is arguable that The Rock is the greatest of all living WWE legends.

The Hollywood star also sits on the board of WWE’s parent company TKO, and with the COO Mark Shapiro openly stating a desire to make Wrestlepalooza one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year, could we see ‘The Great One’ appear?

The Rock still has storyline loose ends with both Cody Rhodes and John Cena, meaning he could realistically be involved in both the main event between Cena and Brock Lesnar and the Undisputed WWE Title match between Rhodes and Drew McIntyre.

An altercation with Rhodes in particular could plant further seeds for the speculated WrestleMania 43 main event in Saudi Arabia.

2. Rob Van Dam

WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam revealed recently that there had been talks of him returning to face John Cena during Cena’s retirement run.

Those plans were reportedly scrapped, however, after RVD suffered a serious injury competing for MLW at Battle Riot, where he broke both heels.

While the match is no longer on the table, Van Dam hasn’t ruled out a final run once he’s fully recovered.

As one of Cena’s great in-ring opponents, could we still see RVD make an on-screen appearance before the Cena vs Lesnar main event at Wrestlepalooza?

1. The Hardy Boyz

The Hardys are without doubt one of WWE‘s most iconic teams, with few questioning their legendary status in the company.

Eight-time Tag Team Champions in WWE, the duo remain active and currently hold tag gold in partner promotion TNA, where they are still among the most over acts.

Both Matt and Jeff made a surprise appearance at SummerSlam to a huge reaction from the New Jersey crowd – so could they show up again at Wrestlepalooza?

All signs point to the Hardys having one final WWE run before heading into the company’s Hall of Fame, and an appearance at the PLE could well be the spark.
