One of the most discussed topics of the second half of 2026 has been WWE’s plans to reunite one of the most popular tag teams of the 2010s: Enzo Amore and Big Cass.
In May it was reported that Amore visited the WWE Performance Center and would be returning to the company, while Cass was also set to rejoin after his AEW departure in July.
However, when vignettes for Cass’ return to WWE began airing, there was zero sign or mention of Amore and we are now two months into Cass’ second WWE run and there is still no word on Amore following him.
In an update on the internal reaction to the situation, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has revealed that some in WWE creative feel that the audience is “waiting” on Enzo Amore to return, and this is “hampering” what they can do with Big Cass.
So, where does WWE go from here? There are a few routes forward:
Silence the chatter by re-signing Enzo Amore
The most obvious thing WWE can do is just simply sign Enzo Amore and put him with Big Cass.
They already know that fans are waiting, and Amore is available to be signed; they also have a supremely lacking tag team division right now, so Enzo and Cass could help strengthen that greatly.
Despite only lasted a year by each other’s side on the main roster, they have remained synonymous with each other in the almost decade since their split – a testament to how well they worked together.
Rather than burrow their heads in the sand it seems a lot easier to give Cass’ WWE career a lifeline in the form of Amore.
If Amore returned on his own there would likely still be questions about Cass’ whereabouts, but it feels as if he would have a greater chance at success given his charisma, but Cass is already sinking a bit on Raw, so they shouldn’t delay a reunion with Enzo too much longer.
Change their approach with Big Cass as a singles star, or potentially form a new tag team
Cass’ singles run has certainly been lacklustre thus far as he’s won just one of his three matches on Raw and tasted back-to-back pinfall losses to two stars smaller than him: Je’Von Evans and Dragon Lee.
Crowd reactions have also been fairly tepid and it feels as if the topic of Enzo comes up online every time Cass makes an appearance on Raw. It’s a shame for Cass as he possesses all the tools to succeed on his own, but there’s no denying that he works very well when he’s got someone alongside him – with Enzo being the best example of this.
Putting Cass with a different WWE star would likely go a long way in silencing talk of Enzo Amore’s return, and on SmackDown there is already someone who Cass has proven to work well with in the past: Ricky Saints.
Saints and Cass held the AEW World Tag Team Titles for 123 days and complimented each other well in a similar way to how he and Enzo did. So, if WWE aren’t going to bring the the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion back, they should be looking to pair them together.
If they’re dead set on Cass as a singles star, it feels as if him just targeting small guys isn’t going to do a whole lot long-term. Cass actually has a lot of personality and could show it as a babyface, or in a slightly more light-hearted heel character, and this type of role would likely get fans a bit more on his side than what they’re doing currently.
