WWE Championship Matches At WrestleMania 42

With the Royal Rumble 2026 in Riyadh fast approaching, it will be time for WrestleMania 42 title bouts to be confirmed in the near future.

While the Royal Rumble winners will end up determining at least two of the championship matches set for Las Vegas, there are certainly going to be more titles on the line at WWE WrestleMania 42.

Here are seven WWE Championship matches for WrestleMania 42

7. AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch (c) for WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship

In one feud that seems likely to come back around again, it would make sense to see Becky Lynch take up a major challenger at WrestleMania 42.

Potentially coming back to shoot her shot at Lynch and the IC title, it might be recent enemy AJ Lee that could be the one to dethrone Becky Lynch in Las Vegas.

With their rivalry certainly not over, there could end up being a third or even fourth addition to this match as well depending on how the storyline plays out.

Able to easily add the likes of Roxanne Perez, Bayley, Maxxine Dupri or Nattie (in either iteration) — this match could be a total show stealer.

Possibly playing host to a surprise return from Seth Rollins at Royal Rumble — this match could prove to be a triple threat in the end if the recovery stars align.

With the expected return of Roman Reigns ahead of the big April event, things could become more clear in the coming months as to how the pair end up becoming opponents but the eventual match will surely be memorable.

5. Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar (c) for Undisputed WWE Championship

After Cody Rhodes lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre on WWE SmackDown January, there became a whole new world of possibilities.

Possibly marking an interesting series of events that could see McIntyre feuding with the likes of Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar ahead of WrestleMania 42, perhaps Drew won’t be able to make it to Las Vegas while still holding the title.

With Rhodes potentially poised to make history by joining Stone Cold Steve Austin as the only other man to win the Royal Rumble three times in his career — Cody’s road back to the top might require a Royal Rumble victory.

Set for another potential heroes journey on the road to WrestleMania 42, there could be some interesting new stories aligning for the big event.

4. Bianca Belair vs. Jade Cargill (c) for WWE Women’s Championship

After picking up an injury at WrestleMania 41, Bianca Belair as not yet returned to action on WWE TV.

While she may very likely being reserved for a Royal Rumble surprise, Belair could also end up taking the entire battle royal.

Earning her shot at WrestleMania 42, there could be question of whether or not she would target a title on WWE Raw or SmackDown but int he end, she would choose to settle a more emotional score.

Perfectly set up to have a showdown against Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship, it could be that the pair of former teammates turned potential foes is finally set to happen in 2026.

3. Rhea Ripley vs. IYO SKY (c) for WWE Women’s World Championship

With questions around Stephanie Vaquer’s injury status, it could be that a title change is coming soon rather than later for the WWE Women’s World Championship.

While the pair of Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY are currently the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, there could be a betrayal coming soon.

With best friendships not usually lasting long in WWE, it could be that either Rhea Ripley or IYO SKY take a turn to the dark side on the road to WrestleMania 42.

Perhaps the call to win back the WWE Women’s World Championship will be too strong for the current dynamic duo to ignore, sending them into conflict against one another in Las Vegas.

2. Joe Hendry vs. Ricky Saints (c) for NXT Championship

In a twist on the typical set of events for WrestleMania weekend, it could be time for the NXT Championship match to flip to WrestleMania Saturday.

With NXT Stand & Deliver typically occurring at another arena nearby earlier in the day Saturday of WrestleMania — there could be a swerve that leads to a crossover.

If the Stand & Deliver main event was somehow derailed and unable to crown a winner — the match could re-start at WrestleMania 42.

With characters like Joe Hendry, Ricky Saints or Ethan Page potentially in contention for the currently vacant NXT title — there could be a lot of fresh and exciting stories coming soon.

1. The New Day vs. The Usos (c) for WWE World Tag Team Championship

Reuniting in tag team action, Jimmy and Jey Uso could find themselves headed on a WrestleMania 42 collision course with a pair of familiar faces.

Since The Usos captured the WWE World Tag Team Championship, it seems they’re destined to have a showdown with the old rivals, The New Day.

With things being very different for both teams since their former rivalry, this particular WrestleMania 42 bout could add teams but might be most interesting kept at just the two.

With both teams seemingly vying to determine who between them is truly the best in the industry, there could be a very impressive in-ring match at WrestleMania 42.
