5 Last-Minute Changes To WWE Backlash 2025

With the go-home SmackDown now in the books, the full WWE Backlash card appears to be set.

However, with five matches confirmed, there’s always the possibility of last-minute shake-ups before the action kicks off.

Could we see any surprises or changes in the final hours leading up to bell-time in St. Louis?

Here are five potential last-minute changes that could rock the Backlash card.

5. Jey Uso Seeks Revenge Against Logan Paul

Logan Paul jumped World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso after WWE Raw went off the air on May 5, setting the stage for their upcoming clash.

Their title match isn’t set for Backlash, but rather for Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24.

Still, after that brutal attack, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Uso shows up on the show.

Whether it’s a promo, backstage moment, or surprise confrontation, don’t rule out both men making their presence felt at the Backlash.

Penta is set to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Backlash.

Alongside his rivalry with Mysterio, Penta has been engaged in an ongoing feud with Chad Gable, which will likely come into play during the match.

Though not announced, there’s a possibility that Penta’s brother, Rey Fenix, could make an appearance to back up his sibling against “El Grande Americano”.

Backlash might just witness the triumphant return of the Lucha Brothers.

3. IYO SKY Appears

WWE Women’s World Champion IYO SKY is on an incredible run, with the Japanese star receiving widespread acclaim for her performances.

Her match at WrestleMania 41 is being hailed as one of the greatest women’s bouts in the event’s history, and she continues to deliver stellar performances weekly on both Raw and NXT.

This hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Dave Meltzer reporting in the Wrestling Observer that internally, WWE considers her this year’s “breakout” star.

Although not currently on the Backlash card, we may well see her involved in some way, especially with her ongoing feud with supremely-talented fellow joshi star, Giulia.

2. R-Truth Gets Involved In John Cena vs. Randy Orton

Over recent weeks on Raw, R-Truth has been featured in backstage segments with Jimmy Uso.

Despite Uso’s efforts, Truth continues to support his “childhood hero” John Cena, denying Cena’s recent turn against the WWE fanbase.

It seems inevitable that the ever-entertaining Truth will play a role in Cena’s storyline soon.

The big question is: could this happen at Backlash, adding an interesting twist to both the show and the broader storyline?

The Wyatt Sicks have yet to feature on a WWE PLE.

They have been absent from programming for months, reportedly due to Bo Dallas/Uncle Howdy’s injury.

With Alexa Bliss making a return on SmackDown on May 9, speculation is growing that she could soon be revealed as the group’s new leader.

If WWE pulls the trigger at Backlash, it could not only mark the group’s awaited return but also reshape the show as a whole, injecting it with an element of chaos.
