Recent weeks on WWE NXT have seen the debut of Blake Monroe.

Long rumored, former AEW star Mariah May has now officially signed with WWE — and she’s immediately been pushed into title contention against NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne.

As WWE continues to replenish NXT with new stars while others move up to the main roster, Monroe certainly won’t be the last new arrival.

Here are six wrestlers who could be next to officially sign with WWE NXT.

6. Mr. Iguana

One of the more surprising stories this year has been the degree to which AAA performer Mr. Iguana has connected with WWE fans.

Appearing in the opening trios match at the crossover WWE & AAA Worlds Collide show, the luchador quickly captured attention with his unique character and moveset – which creatively incorporates a stuffed iguana toy.

WWE capitalised on the buzz, airing a video package on Raw and featuring him again on NXT.

With WWE acquiring AAA, it seems that Mr. Iguana won’t just be used in the Mexican promotion – according to the man himself, he’s close to signing with WWE officially and may soon make a full-time debut via NXT.

5. Leon Slater

TNA Wrestling's Leon Slater

Prodigious British star Leon Slater has had a meteoric rise in TNA this year, climbing from the undercard to the upper echelon of the promotion.

At TNA’s flagship show Slammiversary on July 20, the 20-year-old is set to challenge Moose for the X-Division Championship – if he wins, he’ll become the youngest champion in the company’s history.

Given Slater’s generational talent – and with WWE’s working relationship with TNA – it seems almost inevitable that he’ll appear on NXT sooner rather than later.

The real question is: how long before WWE signs him and he makes a full-time move to Tuesday nights?

4. Kamille

It was recently announced that AEW star Kamille will feature in the reboot of American Gladiators – a show hosted by WWE star The Miz.

Kamille hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since being “fired” by Mercedes Moné and laid out backstage last November.

There had reportedly been WWE interest before the 32-year-old former NWA Women’s World Champion signed with AEW.

In AEW, she didn’t get the chance to show the in-ring talent that made her a standout performer in the NWA, and NXT could be where she finally gets that opportunity.

3. Marcus Mathers

22-year-old Marcus Mathers has been one of the best independent wrestlers in the world for a couple of years now.

This hasn’t gone unnoticed by WWE, who signed him to an ID contract last November.

While continuing to work a busy indie schedule – defending his IWTV Independent Wrestling World Championship – he also recently appeared on an episode of WWE Evolve, which showcases unsigned talent with ID deals.

Already a polished performer, it surely won’t be long before he signs a full WWE contract and makes a permanent transition from the indies to NXT.

2. Sean Legacy

Sean Legacy is another performer currently signed to a WWE ID contract.

Unlike the aforementioned Marcus Mathers, Legacy has already appeared on NXT programming, recently delivering several show-stealing performances.

On the June 10 edition of NXT, he challenged Ethan Page for the North American Title in a losing effort.

Given the 28-year-old’s recent prominence on the show, it clearly won’t be long before he signs a formal WWE contract and establishes himself as one of NXT’s top-tier stars.

1. Masha Slamovich

TNA Wrestling Knockout's Champion Masha Slamovich

Masha Slamovich is the current TNA Knockouts Champion.

Given WWE’s working relationship with TNA, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see their champion appear at the upcoming all-women’s PLE Evolution, possibly in a featured match.

Slamovich isn’t just a champion –  she’s also one of the best female performers in North America, and with NXT recently losing top in-ring talent like Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia, and Roxanne Perez to the main roster, there’s a clear gap to fill.

Could we soon see Slamovich bringing her intense, explosive style to an NXT ring?
