On the September 30 edition of AEW Dynamite, the company will pay tribute to PAC.
The wrestling world is still saddened by the passing of PAC at 40 years old.
Ahead of the September 30 AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan announced that AEW World Champion Will Ospreay will face Ricochet, which just felt like a logical matchup for this night.
Let’s take a look at why Will Ospreay vs. Ricochet is the perfect PAC tribute match.
PAC & Ricochet helped put each other on the map
In 2011, PAC and Ricochet started a rivalry in Dragon Gate USA that played a crucial role in both men’s career.
Through their series of matches, fans were blown away by the fast paced, high flying style of both men.
PAC and Ricochet’s bouts put a massive spotlight on their state-of-the-art in-ring exploits.
Helping to put Ricochet on the map, PAC played a pivotal role in platforming a young talent and eventually led to his own signing with WWE.
PAC’s influence on the UK indies led to Will Ospreay following in his footsteps
Starting his career in 2004, PAC created a buzz around his name that started to gain everyone’s attention.
With his British Airways turned Red Arrow finisher, “The Bastard” turned heads and paved a way for others from the United Kingdom to follow.
Making his professional wrestling debut in 2012, Will Ospreay looked to follow in PAC’s footsteps.
PAC became the model of what wrestlers could achieve and inspired the likes of Ospreay to reach for greater heights.
Will Ospreay & Ricochet go viral
In 2016, Will Ospreay and Ricochet met for the first time in the NJPW Best of Super Juniors tournament and went viral for their extraordinary chemistry together.
With a style that was influenced by PAC in so many ways, Ospreay and Ricochet were both elevated.
Across several different promotions, Ospreay and Ricochet showcased what they can do together.
These matches are important because they helped to bring NJPW to new eyes, allowed Ricochet to sign with WWE and put Ospreay on the map in a massive way.
Why this is the perfect PAC tribute match
On the September 30 episode of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay will meet Ricochet once again.
Both men followed in PAC’s footsteps and will embrace everything they have learned from this innovator.
Considering their past with PAC, this will be yet another significant match for both men.
