Predicting The Card For WWE & TNA Wrestling Crossover Show

At the beginning of the year, WWE and TNA Wrestling formalised their working agreement, announcing a multi-year partnership.

This relationship has already seen then-TNA World Champion Joe Hendry appear at both the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania — before dropping the title to NXT star Trick Williams.

While most of the crossover has taken place on NXT — with TNA stars regularly appearing on Tuesday nights and NXT performers similarly featuring on Impact — there’s certainly intrigue in the idea of a supershow between the two companies, with WWE’s main roster stars clashing with TNA’s best.

Below are dream pairings we could see on such a show.

6. IYO SKY vs. Masha Slamovich

WWE Women's World Champion IYO SKY with Masha Slamovich

At TNA’s upcoming Slammiversary pay-per-view, TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich is already scheduled to take on a WWE NXT star in a big-time title-for-title match against the winner of Jacy Jayne vs Jordynne Grace.

As big as that bout will be — especially if it reignites her rivalry with Jordynne Grace, with whom she shared several standout matches in TNA — an even bigger dream match would be a title vs title clash with WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY.

There’s certainly an argument to be made that Slamovich and SKY are the best in-ring performers in their respective companies — and it wouldn’t be surprising if WWE already has their eyes on Slamovich.

This potential bout could steal the show on any WWE–TNA crossover event.

5. The Hardy Boyz vs. The Street Profits

The Hardy Boys are in the pantheon of all-time iconic WWE tag teams – and any WWE–TNA crossover show would certainly have to feature the legendary duo.

As eight-time WWE World Tag Team Champions, The Hardys could face current champions The Street Profits – with a ninth run with the belts on the line.

While they’re no longer the high-flying daredevils of the early 2000s, the Hardys are still wildly over with fans in both WWE and TNA – and there’s no doubt the talented Street Profits could get a good match out of them.

This is a clash that could deliver a passing-of-the-torch moment between respective high-flyers, Jeff Hardy and Montez Ford.

4. Seth Rollins vs. Leon Slater

TNA Wrestling's Leon Slater and WWE's Seth Rollins

On the 7 July edition of Raw, Seth Rollins delivered a standout main event against Penta – devoid of the usual interference from his faction, just fluid and seamless in-ring wrestling.

Arguably, there’s one person on TNA’s roster who could go out there and deliver with Rollins at an even higher level: Leon Slater.

The 20-year-old British star – who’s set to challenge Moose for the X-Division Title at Slammiversary – is the most spectacular athlete in TNA, showing the same undeniable talent that Rollins did in his Tyler Black days in ROH.

Slater is a prodigious talent, and putting him in the ring with one of WWE’s top-tier stars would guarantee a big-time spotlight for this future star – and produce an outstanding bout in the process.

3. GUNTHER vs. Mike Santana

This year has seen the exponential rise of Mike Santana in TNA – the former tag team star has delivered some of the best bouts in the company and become hugely over with the fanbase.

As a result, he’s being pegged as the next TNA World Champion – the man to potentially dethrone NXT’s Trick Williams, with that opportunity coming in a three-way, which also features Joe Hendry, at Slammiversary on 20 July.

A WWE–TNA crossover event could offer a dream scenario: the future TNA World Champion vs. current WWE Champion Gunther – a big-time non-title bout between two of the best workers in their respective companies.

There’s little doubt it would be a brutal, hard-hitting, and outstanding in-ring affair.

2. CM Punk vs. Eric Young

Any crossover between WWE and TNA has to feature CM Punk – who had a brief run in TNA’s early years, where he was criminally underused.

A showdown with two-time TNA World Champion Eric Young could be the perfect fit – few are more synonymous with the company than Young.

At 45, Young is still performing at a high level, recently delivering a brutal standout dog-collar match against Steve Maclin in May.

Few have had better dog-collar matches than CM Punk, so a short-term feud leading to a bloody, violent dog-collar match with Young would be a clear highlight to any WWE–TNA crossover show.

1.  John Cena vs. Joe Hendry

WWE star John Cena and TNA Wrestling World Champion Joe Hendry

Joe Hendry has used his spot in TNA to propel himself to stardom in the eyes of WWE’s fanbase – something few would have predicted just a few years ago.

At 37, the Scottish star has become a genuine name, appearing at both the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania to rapturous responses on both occasions.

He’s been using that newfound stardom to publicly parlay for a match with John Cena.

On a crossover show, that could become reality – with arguably the two biggest stars in each company finally clashing one-on-one.
