With Sheamus being taken out of the Last Time Is Now tournament to find the last opponent for John Cena in WWE, there is now a vacancy in the bracket.
With the mystery man yet to be revealed, the last-minute change could leave a great opportunity for a surprise entrant.
Here are six non-WWE stars that can still enter the Last Time Is Now tournament to determine who will be John Cena’s final opponent.
6. Cam Skattebo

Cam Skattebo of the New York Giants recently kicked up controversy when the NFL player – who suffered a season ending ankle injury back in October – appeared on a recent episode of WWE Raw.
Seated at ringside with comedian Andrew Schulz, Skattebo got physical and shoved JD McDonagh when Judgment Day started harassing Schulz, which led to some fury from Giants fans online as to why the 23-year old star was mixing it up on WWE TV after recovering from surgery.
Making for a very funny viral moment, Sheamus’ replacement could end up becoming Skattebo who is (delicately and safely) dragged from his seat into the ring where he elects to immediately lay down and take the pin.
Being able to tout the WWE loss as a sign of his dedication to the vocal fandom that criticized his initial appearance, there’s a replacement for Sheamus and a brilliant sports troll move all in one.

5. Matt or Jeff Hardy

While John Cena faced off in singles action against Jeff Hardy during his career, he never had a televised singles match against Matt Hardy.
That could make for the perfect reason for Matt to be included at the last minute, as it would be the last chance for the two legends to ever face each other.
Or, Cena could face Jeff again in a rematch from their only one-on-one match 17 years ago.
The match could help promote NXT and the upcoming TNA Final Resolution on December 5 which is set to host numerous NXT vs TNA battles including The Hardy Boyz defending the TNA World Tag Team Championship against Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe.

4. Post Malone

A celebrity guest who has been shown enjoying his recent time at WWE events has been Post Malone.
Having been shown taking in the WWE live experience at both Clash in Paris in August and again at Saturday Night’s Main Event in November, it seems Posty’s WWE fandom has been renewed.
Albeit short notice for a ‘real match’, the rapper turned country singer could definitely be called in for the bout from ringside and take a quick loss to any WWE star.
After having a notable confrontation with Seth Rollins after Clash in Paris, perhaps Post Malone could make another enemy on the WWE roster for a future tag team effort with Jelly Roll.

3. Mike Santana

One TNA Wrestling star that is reportedly getting interest from WWE is Mike Santana.
After recent reports noted that his current contract with TNA Wrestling was coming to a close soon, fans began to wonder if he could be set to move on from the promotion in the near future.
Potentially able to replace Sheamus in the Last Time Is Now tournament, Santana’s appearance could serve the dual purpose of drawing attention to the next TNA x NXT crossover event.
It does seem as though Santana will be sticking around in TNA Wrestling for a bit longer, as he’s currently set for a match at TNA Final Resolution on December 5 where he will take on NXT star Charlie Dempsey.

2. Alexander Hammerstone

One potential totally outside entrant to the tournament could come from MLW in Alexander Hammerstone.
Hammerstone appeared on NXT taking on both Tony D’Angelo and Oba Femi in September 2024, but departed TNA Wrestling in March 2025.
Possibly arriving on the scene to make a surprise entry into the Last Time Is Now tournament, it could be a fun throwback to Cena’s own surprise debut in WWE.
In the famous moment, Cena came to the ring and reported his “ruthless aggression” to Kurt Angle before challenging the veteran – something that could be replicated with a modern twist with a similarly new talent.

1. Joe Hendry

Now officially signed to WWE, Joe Hendry could still make a surprise entry into the Last Time Is Now tournament now that a vacancy has opened up.
Already competing at WrestleMania 42 as a surprise opponent for Randy Orton, it could be that Hendry arrives in a similar role.
With his gimmick certainly lending to a random appearance – since if you say his name, he appears of course – there wouldn’t need to be a ton of explanation as to how Hendry popped up for the match.
Unlikely to advance since it seems as though the tournament bracket was probably set well in advance and ends in GUNTHER taking the tournament as reported, it would be another fun viral moment for Joe Hendry before he’s even on the main roster.
