Nick Wayne’s rise: Ways AEW can further establish the prodigy who beat Chris Jericho… TWICE!

Nick Wayne on AEW Dynamite

Have you heard the news?

Nick Wayne has become the unsung hero of AEW Dynamite over the past few weeks, with his rise coming after he defeated Chris Jericho, before then going on to beat Chris Jericho a second time at AEW WrestleDream.

With the rivalry between Wayne and Jericho now over, Wayne has established himself as a rising star on AEW’s roster, with his character work growing over the past few weeks.

Here are more ways that AEW can further establish Nick Wayne.

Stablemaxxing

Nick Wayne has struck gold with his current gimmick of being an obnoxious Gen Z’er, and he is far from the only young star on the roster that would be a great choice for the role.

Names such as the Busta and the Brain’s Alec Price and Jordan Oliver, as well as young women’s stars like Zayda Steel, would be great stooges to back up Nick Wayne in his rise in AEW.

Wayne getting too big for his boots after his two wins over Jericho and recruiting ‘apprentices’ while he himself is only 21 years old would be, as Nick Wayne would say, ‘cinema’.

Clipfarming

On this week’s Dynamite, AEW aired a recorded vignette of Nick Wayne out celebrating his victory in Miami, which included him live streaming on a knock off version of Kick, and pyro being set off when he mentioned defeating Chris Jericho… twice.

There are other ways for Nick to become more ‘viral’, and AEW should use him to take a leaf out of WWE’s playbook where they purposefully have him do things in an attempt to go viral, except it’s entirely done as a parody instead of being done unironically like in WWE.

I’d even go as far as to say sound effects should be played during his matches, but that could be going too far, even if it would absolutely be funny.

Mogging Adam Copeland

Chris Jericho is far from the only legendary name in AEW.

Adam Copeland recently announced that he was retiring from wrestling in 2027, and there are a lot of ways that AEW could go about booking his final run and match.

While Copeland could go out on top and make the fans happy, imagine how much pyro would be used if Nick Wayne retired him.
