The WWE SmackDown commentary team of Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett have developed into one of the better combinations on the call anywhere in wrestling right now.
Tessitore has years of experience announcing for sports, while Barrett has been brilliant as a color commentator who can get the fans into the storylines.
While the duo has done well, there are also openings for more additions to the commentary desk and that end of the spectrum looking at announcers on other shows as well as the current roster.
Here are seven potentially new WWE SmackDown announcers.
7. Booker T
The NXT commentary team has become one of the most entertaining in the company with Booker T being the announcer who gets talked about the most.
Whether it is his analysis of the matches and storylines or his ad libs that have become very popular among fans, Booker has a way with words that has garnered plenty of attention and discussion.
The two-time WWE Hall of Famer brings plenty of star power to the commentary desk and is someone who has effortless charisma.
Booker T making the move to the brand he originally started his commentary career on in SmackDown would feel like a full circle moment that could add something new to the call on the show.

6. Matthew Rehwoldt
Making the transition from in-ring competitor to announcer in 2019, Matthew Rehwoldt, then known as Aiden English, seemed like an ideal fit on commentary when he was back in WWE.
Signing with TNA Wrestling in 2021, Rehwoldt has made a name for himself alongside Tom Hannifan as one of the voices of the promotion.
The former NXT Tag Team Champion feels like a very old school style heel color commentator that could bring a unique flare to WWE right now.
Rehwoldt joining the SmackDown announce team would be the biggest platform that the former WWE star has had in his commentary career.

5. Tom Hannifan
Once viewed as the heir apparent to Michael Cole in WWE, Tom Hannifan really established himself as a dependable commentator during his near-10 year run in the company.
Then known as Tom Phillips, he first made a name for himself over on the NXT brand before being the first announcer to be on the call for every WWE show at that time.
In 2022, Hannifan signed with TNA Wrestling and has firmly cemented himself as the voice of the promotion, being part of some of the biggest matches and moments in the company’s history.
Hannifan returning home to WWE to be the lead commentator over on SmackDown would feel quite fitting and help him realize the potential he showed back when he first started in 2012.

4. Peter Rosenberg
Peter Rosenberg has been working with WWE for several years after first becoming a presence in the broadcasting scene as a radio host.
Based off his well established fandom of pro wrestling, the company first called on him to be an analyst on their pre-show panels.
Since then, Rosenberg recently made the transition to the commentary desk as part of the WWE Evolve revival brand.
With his recent experience as a lead announcer on WWE Evolve, Rosenberg could transition to SmackDown where he could be a new voice that helps start a new era for the commentary team.

3. Robert Stone
After a seven year run with TNA Wrestling as Robbie E, Robert Stone debuted in WWE in 2019 as a manager and non-wrestler.
In the past six years, Stone has played various roles, including as the assistant to NXT General Manager Ava.
Stone recently debuted as a color commentator alongside Peter Rosenberg on the WWE Evolve revival brand that premiered earlier this year.
Joining the WWE SmackDown announce team, Stone can use his years of experience as a wrestler and manager to bring a alternative perspective that may not be prevalent on the blue brand right now.

2. Vic Joseph
No one has looked ready made for the lead commentator spot when Michael Cole calls it a career more than Vic Joseph.
From his days on NXT UK to his current role as the voice of WWE NXT, Joseph has played his position and been someone consistently called upon to add his touch to the major moments on the brand.
Working alongside Booker T and Corey Graves, Joseph has showcased himself that can work well next to anyone and everyone.
Considering his experience working alongside Wade Barrett in the past, Joseph is the perfect person who could be put next to the former five-time Intercontinental Champion over on WWE SmackDown.

1. The Miz
The Miz has taken a backseat in recent years as his in-ring career is seemingly winding down after 20 years with WWE.
Being one of the most accomplished in-ring competitors in WWE today, “The A Lister” is someone that many fans believe will still be with the company even after his retirement.
With that in mind, The Miz feels like an active star on the roster who has the talking chops to make a successful transition to the commentary desk.
Over on WWE SmackDown, The Miz could be slotted in right next to both Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett, playing off the polished duo to add some heel work behind the desk that can become a dynamic trio on the call.
