After WWE debuted the new commentary team of Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett on SmackDown back in January 2025, it could be time to shake things up.
WWE often refreshes its announce teams and there are plenty of potential options out there who could step into the role on the blue brand.
Here are six potential new additions to the WWE SmackDown announce team.
6. Matthew Rehwoldt

A familiar voice that could be on loan to WWE SmackDown from TNA Wrestling could be Matthew Rehwoldt.
Formerly known as Aiden English during his in-ring work in WWE, after being released by the company he would go on to make a brand new start.
Transitioning to become a popular commentator in TNA Wrestling, he hasn’t ruled out a return to WWE.
With TNA Wrestling and WWE having an on-going partnership, it is possible that we could see Matthew Rehwoldt on SmackDown one day.

5. Corey Graves

No stranger to WWE audiences, Corey Graves continues to appear on commentary across WWE TV.
Potentially returning to a role on the main roster from his recent spell in NXT, Corey Graves has already been filling in for Pat McAfee on WWE Raw alongside Michael Cole.
However, if there were a shake-up in the future then it could make sense to see Graves anchor SmackDown instead.
Making for an intriguing balance to Joe Tessitore, the duo could be fun as a two-man team or even Graves added to the existing line-up.

4. Paige (Saraya)

While fans felt certain that Saraya (fka Paige in WWE) would appear at the all-female WWE Evolution 2025 PLE — she did not end up appearing.
However, all hope is not lost as there is still the potential for a future surprise entry in the Royal Rumble or even a different on-screen role entirely.
In the event there needed to be a fill-in for Wade Barrett — the opinionated star could certainly lend her English voice to the commentary team.
Able to even join as a special guest, it would be enjoyable to see the star back in the mix and a female voice on WWE commentary.

3. Vic Joseph

One potential option from the NXT to join the commentary team is Vic Joseph.
Although a classic pairing with Booker T for the Tuesday night show, with the recent addition of Corey Graves as a third perhaps Joseph could graduate a main roster spot in a different three-man formation.
Most recently filling in for Joe Tessitore on SmackDown back in February 2025, Joseph has demonstrated he has what it takes.
Making for a solid addition to the current line-up featuring Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore —Joseph could serve as a great bridge to introduce new NXT call-ups to the main roster audience.

2. Big E

While his in-ring career has come to an end, Big E continues to bring joy to WWE audiences.
Continuing to impress on the pre-show and post-show premium live event panels, Big E could definitely be a legendary addition to WWE Raw.
With on-going emotional stakes with some WWE characters, Big E can connect to stories through his own in-ring experience, similarly to Wade Barrett.
In the event Barrett made the leap to WWE Raw to sit alongside Michael Cole, Big E would be an iconic new partner for Joe Tess.

1. Jim Ross

Jim Ross recently mentioned on his Grillin’ JR Podcast that his current AEW contract is up this month but that he “hope to re-sign” with the company if offered a contract.
Ross remains a legendary voice that many fans recall fondly and could add something special to WWE today.
Admittedly — Jim Ross should not resume any sort of WWE travel schedule but he could definitely return in a remote capacity.
Able to provide comments regarding specifically replays from earlier in the show or even recapping the previous week’s action to open SmackDown — using JR as a narrator is a fun way to connect to audiences from yesterday and today.
