The general manager concept has been used on Raw since 2002, with WCW’s Senior Vice President Eric Bischoff being brought shockingly into WWE to act as this on-screen authority figure.
In storyline terms, the general manager role has been used sporadically over the years, often being undertaken by company legends.
The latest holder of the position is Adam Pearce, who has held the role officially since October 2023.
It is, however, a storyline position with constant turnover, so before long, we are likely to see a replacement for Pearce – and now we predict who that could be.
5. William Regal

William Regal has extensive experience playing the on-screen role of a general manager.
The legendary British grappler was general manager on Raw between 2007 and 2008, as well as during a lengthy, memorable stint in the peak in-ring years of NXT between 2014 and 2021.
Since his return from a short stint in AEW in 2023, he has only appeared on WWE programming on a handful of occasions, instead working behind the scenes as Vice President of Global Talent.
One of pro-wrestling’s great communicators, and one who has never lost a step on the microphone, as his run in AEW demonstrated, arguably no one is better suited to take on the role of Raw’s General Manager.

4. Shane McMahon

Despite remaining on WWE’s active roster page, Shane McMahon has not been seen on WWE programming since his fateful appearance at WrestleMania 39, where he suffered a quad tear in a bout against The Miz – which memorably had Snoop Dogg step up for an unplanned debut match.
Unlike his sister Stephanie, Shane McMahon has never acted in the general manager role on either of the main roster brands, although he has held another role of authority figure as “Commissioner” on two separate occasions.
The younger McMahon remains popular with the WWE audience, and his return to the company is all but inevitable.
The role of general manager may be the ideal position to reintroduce the 55-year-old to WWE.

3. Mick Foley

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley is another star with significant experience as an onscreen authority figure in WWE.
Arguably having one of the most memorable runs as an authority figure, he acted as “Commissioner” at the height of the Attitude Era in 2000 while still an active wrestler.
Post-retirement, he has drifted in and out of the company and in 2016, he returned full-time to WWE programming, officially becoming Raw General Manager – before being “fired” the following year by Stephanie McMahon.
One of the most popular WWE stars of all time, the return of this legendary figure for another run as GM is sure to get over with WWE’s fanbase.

2. Santino Marella

Santino Marella had his first singles match in WWE in 11 years on the 29 July edition of NXT – a surprisingly effective match against Ethan Page.
This seemingly random encounter occurred as a result of WWE and TNA’s ongoing relationship.
In TNA, where Marella is contracted, he plays an authority figure as “Director of Authority,” proving himself adept at the role.
Marella’s ability to play both serious and comic roles, along with his ability to step back into the ring, combined with the ongoing relationship between TNA and WWE, raises the question: could we see him make the transition to become Raw’s next authority figure?

1. Trish Stratus

Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has played a variety of roles in WWE since her debut in the company in 2000, from manager to full-time top star, to part-time legend, to guest host of Raw.
One role she has yet to play is that of a general manager.
There was some speculation in the wake of her recent title bout against Tiffany Stratton, at the all-women’s PLE Evolution, that it could be her last match.
If this is true, perhaps it could be time for a new role – maybe Stratus could be named the next Raw GM.
