With the announcement by Ava that she will not renew her WWE contract, there is presumably a new NXT GM on the way.

From former legends that could be returning to a brand new role to other familiar faces that could step into the job, there are some interesting options for the next on-screen leader of NXT.

Here are six new WWE NXT General Managers that could be taking over Ava’s vacated position.

6. Chris Jericho

One major name that could step into the role recently vacated by Ava could be the rumored to be returning Chris Jericho.

With theories persisting that Chris Jericho may be making a return to WWE at Royal Rumble 2026, there could be a twist coming after the event.

Rather than heading to WWE Raw or SmackDown, Jericho could instead appear as the new GM of NXT, leading to his appearances across both the NXT and TNA Wrestling brands.

Able to bring increased attention to the shows, Jericho could definitely end up making a major impact on the developmental brand.

5. Charlotte Flair

After her enjoyable side quest as a tag team with Alexa Bliss has already brought about a character reinvention for Charlotte Flair, a new role could be coming as well.

Able to take over the WWE NXT GM role even if just temporarily, there could be a fun crossover and give an opportunity for Flair to show off her own acting chops all at the same time.

Flair could use the opportunity to show off different aspects of her personality that have been highlighted in her teamwork with Bliss that seem to be resonating with fans.

While it seems that Charlotte Flair could be headed for a major moment at WrestleMania 42 — given her presence in the already aired adverts for the Las Vegas extravaganza — it is still fun to think about a potential new side quest for her.

4. Arianna Grace

Handing the reins as NXT GM to another current NXT female talent with a famous father – the perfect selection could be Arianna Grace.

With continued crossovers between WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling, it could be a fun opportunity to see Arianna Grace take charge of NXT.

Putting her in direct opposition to her father Santino Marella as the Director of Authority for TNA Wrestling, there could be endless hijinks that go on between the pair as rivals.

Providing for a fun running storyline between the two companies, the pairing would be a fun spin on a traditional view of competition between GMs.

3. William Regal & Charlie Dempsey

One way for Ava to replace herself as the WWE NXT General Manager would be for Charlie Dempsey to take over the reins — with real life father in tow.

Bringing together the compelling characters of both Charlie Dempsey and William Regal, their generational conflict dynamic could be very interesting.

Giving a solid reason for Regal to return to TV, the move could also create a more dynamic character for Dempsey in the long run.

With endless possibilities, Regal would certainly come up with something interesting as well as inventive, giving the GM role an increased importance with the on-screen return of the beloved former NXT GM.

2. Chelsea Green

One hilarious potential future NXT General Manager could be a character that is no stranger to the brand in Chelsea Green.

Able to seize the opportunity left by Ava’s vacancy, the move could give Green a major storyline in the Road to WrestleMania 42.

Watching Green navigate the interpersonal conflict as well as attempt to wrangle the roster, she would of course get some ridiculous comeuppance for her treatment of WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce and SmackDown GM Nick Aldis over the years.

Certainly set to be an interim role, Green could still shine in the GM spot in NXT, bridging the gap between the main roster, NXT and TNA Wrestling.

1. Stone Cold Steve Austin

There could be a revolving door of Attitude Era legends that could make short stays in NXT, the most exciting of which of course would be Stone Cold Steve Austin.

With speculation that there could be an incoming return from the Texas Rattlesnake in WWE, perhaps a return at the Royal Rumble 2026 could lead to a new role entirely.

Since Ava has announced her departure from the NXT GM role, it could be fun to see several legendary stars fill in on the Road to WrestleMania 42.

With the opportunity to showcase the likes of Stone Cold, Kurt Angle or Trish Stratus on TV for limited appearances could be a great deal of fun.
