Brody King and Bandido only began teaming on AEW programming in July this year, but have already proved themselves to be an outstanding in-ring pairing, capturing the World Tag Team Championships at Forbidden Door.
They are one of several duos of singles wrestlers recently put together in ad-hoc fashion that has worked effectively — others include JetSpeed, the team of Speedball Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight, and The Swirl, made up of Blake Christian and Lee Johnson.
With the long-rumoured AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships potentially set to be introduced, the company will likely form even more new teams out of individual stars.
Here are five new AEW tag teams to form soon in both the men’s and women’s tag team divisions.
5. Mercedes Moné & Athena

Mercedes Moné and Athena delivered one of the best televised women’s matches of the year when they clashed at Dynamite Beach Break in April.
Over the summer, the two went on to form an informal alliance, teaming together against Toni Storm and Alex Windsor during AEW’s Dynamite debut in Scotland.
In the ring, they’ve shown clear chemistry, and both have spoken outside of storyline about their desire to work together more.
As two of AEW’s standout performers and biggest women’s stars, they would be ideal inaugural champions if the long-rumoured Women’s Tag Team Division is introduced.

4. Alex Windsor & Jamie Hayter

Fellow British stars Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor are no strangers to one another.
Earlier this year, the two faced off in the UK’s all-women’s promotion Pro-Wrestling EVE, delivering a standout main event bout.
Both excellent in-ring talents, their hard-hitting, explosive styles would clearly mesh if paired together.
With Hayter set to challenge for the AEW Women’s World Title at All Out in a recently announced four-way — a match she seems unlikely to win — the door could soon open for her to team with Windsor and chase the upcoming Women’s Tag Team Championships.

3. Marina Shafir & Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler was released from WWE in May, and with her non-compete now expired there’s still no clear indication of where she will land.
However, in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, the 45-year-old highlighted her close relationship with AEW star Marina Shafir and acknowledged that she would be open to joining her friend in the company.
Before transitioning to pro wrestling, Baszler and Shafir — alongside Ronda Rousey and Jessamyn Duke — were known as the Four Horsewomen of MMA.
As a tag team built around their shooter backgrounds, Baszler and Shafir could bring something very different to AEW’s women’s roster and would be a strong addition to any future Women’s Tag Team division.

2. Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander

Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander remain two of the most popular and talented stars on the AEW roster.
In storyline, the two were once close friends before feuding, culminating in a wild and widely celebrated Chicago Street Fight at last year’s All Out.
Since then, they have remained connected in a “will they, won’t they” storyline, teasing the possibility of reconciliation.
With both boasting palpable levels of charisma as well as superlative in-ring ability, the launch of a Women’s Tag Team division could finally reunite the pair.

1. Hangman Adam Page & Kenny Omega

While the potential launch of AEW’s Women’s Tag Team division promises several brand-new pairings, recent weeks on AEW programming have also teased the return of one of the company’s most beloved duos.
Hangman Page and Kenny Omega were the second-ever AEW Tag Team Champions, and together produced one of the most celebrated matches in company history — their Tag Title clash with The Young Bucks at Revolution 2020.
On the 27 August edition of Dynamite, Omega made the save for Hangman against The Don Callis Family, and the following week on 3 September, the two teamed with JetSpeed before being laid out in a brutal Callis Family beatdown.
While Omega now looks to be written off television after the attack, all signs point toward his eventual return leading to a full-on tag team reunion with Hangman Page.
