The December 13 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will be the final significant event of the year for the company and will feature John Cena’s final match of his career.
With Cena wanting to showcase the future of the industry, the show will feature some NXT vs. main roster matches with Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi and Bayley vs. Sol Ruca already announced.
Just mere days before this event, it should be very interesting to see what additional matches will take place from Washington, DC.
Here are eight more potential WWE NXT vs. main roster matches that could take place at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Trick Williams – WWE United States Championship
On the October 17 edition of SmackDown, Ilja Dragunov made his return to answer Sami Zayn’s United States Championship Open Challenge and won to become the new titleholder.
Picking up the mantle of the open challenge, fans have seen Dragunov face anyone and everyone who steps up to the plate to compete for the US Title.
Fans have seen other WWE NXT stars like Je’Von Evans step up for the open challenge, so WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event could feature another one.
Trick Williams is someone who is no stranger to Dragunov, having beaten him to become NXT Champion in 2024, so it would make a ton of sense for the former TNA World Champion getting his call-up by accepting the challenge from ‘The Mad Dragon.’

Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Je’Von Evans – WWE Intercontinental Championship
At WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2025, Dominik Mysterio defeated John Cena to become a two-time Intercontinental Champion thanks to interference from the returning Liv Morgan.
With his title and woman by his side, Mysterio could decide to defend his gold against one of the up-and-coming stars on NXT.
Looking at the NXT roster, no one has more momentum right now than Je’Von Evans, especially coming off his win in the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline 2025.
Evans challenging Mysterio could make for a spirited title defense where ‘Dirty Dom’ might not be able to overcome ‘The Young OG’ at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Rhea Ripley vs. Zaria
With the first WWE NXT vs. main roster matches announced, the company has pit some of the best talent from NXT against top stars from Raw and SmackDown.
In a similar vein to Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi, WWE needs to add more dream matches from the women’s division to go along with Bayley vs. Sol Ruca.
Rhea Ripley is one of the most popular and biggest stars in WWE today and could be the perfect opponent for a NXT star with a similar background.
Also from Australia like Ripley, Zaria has been one of the key additions to the NXT women’s division in the past year and could be properly presented as a future breakout star by facing the former Women’s World Champion on December 13.

Jacy Jayne (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria – NXT Women’s Championship
Ever since winning the NXT Women’s Championship in May, Jacy Jayne and Fatal Influence have run roughshod over the entire brand.
This led to her title reign coming to an end when Jayne got too cocky and lost to Tatum Paxley for the gold at NXT Halloween Havoc 2025.
After regaining the title at WWE NXT Gold Rush night one, it is likely the company will want to showcase the reigning champion at this huge event on December 13.
Jayne defending the NXT Women’s Championship against a former champion and Tatum Paxley’s best friend Lyra Valkyria would give WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event a heated title bout with some storyline ramifications.

Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) (c) vs. Kendal Grey & Wren Sinclair – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
The Kabuki Warriors have become a big part in a surge of importance and focus for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship picture.
Asuka and Kairi Sane currently have to deal with several different duos going after their titles like Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, and Nia Jax and Lash Legend.
Looking at the WWE NXT brand, there are a few duos who could potentially get the chance to get an opportunity for The Kabuki Warriors’ titles.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event could see the main roster audience being introduced to current Evolve Women’s Champion Kendal Grey and her partner Wren Sinclair as they attempt to become tag champions against Asuka and Kairi.

AJ Styles & Dragon Lee (c) vs. DarkState (Saquon Shugars & Osiris Griffin) – World Tag Team Championship
AJ Styles and Dragon Lee have taken the Raw tag team division by storm since forming their partnership earlier this year.
Defeating The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, Styles and Lee became the World Tag Team Champions on Raw and have proven to be fighting champions since then.
Not backing down from anyone, Styles and Lee could face one of the many tandems over on WWE NXT at Saturday Night’s Main Event. There is no better option from NXT right now than the always destructive DarkState.
Having Styles and Lee defend against the current NXT Tag Team Champions would be a tough test for the titleholders and a great showcase for the NXT talent.

Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Lola Vice – Women’s World Championship
Stephanie Vaquer signed with WWE in the summer of 2024 and in a little over a year has showcased herself to be one of the best female wrestlers in the world today.
Becoming a double champion to start 2025, Vaquer took NXT by storm winning the Women’s Championship and Women’s North American Championship.
Not wasting any time after being called up to the main roster, it took a little over five months for ‘La Primera’ to become the WWE Women’s World Champion on Raw after defeating IYO SKY at Wrestlepalooza 2025.
Based on their history together from their time in NXT, Lola Vice feels like the ideal option to face Vaquer for her gold at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event and show the main roster audience what she has to offer against one of the best today.

CM Punk (c) vs. Ethan Page – World Heavyweight Championship
Another big title match that has some history to play off from their time on WWE NXT is CM Punk vs. Ethan Page.
Back in October 2024, Punk visited NXT to be a special guest referee when Trick Williams defeated Page to become a two-time NXT Champion. The post match saw ‘All Ego’ get in Punk’s face and get the Go To Sleep in response.
Since then, Page has held a grudge and vowed revenge on ‘The Second City Saint,’ which could come in the form of taking the World Heavyweight Championship from him.
With Page currently holding the NXT North American Championship and AAA Mixed Tag Team Titles with Chelsea Green, ‘All Ego’ could add a third title to his collection in a high profile grudge match against Punk in Washington, DC.
