With Jacob Fatu returning to action on WWE SmackDown, his quest for vengeance has been clear as he’s out to hunt down who attacked him from behind backstage.
Not getting a solid look at the attacker, Fatu has his eyes on several top suspects but in the end, it could be revealed that there is an entirely unforeseen man behind the moment.
Here are five potential suspects for who may be revealed as having been behind the backstage attack of Jacob Fatu.
5. Drew McIntyre
One possible attacker that yet to be ruled out is Drew McIntyre.
While Jacob Fatu has no shortage of animosity for Drew McIntyre, he didn’t wait for any confirmation that he was the one who truly attacked him.
Rather, returning and immediately targeting both McIntyre and Cody Rhodes as both were near the scene at the time — he could come back around to another feud with McIntyre.
With the reveal as yet to be determined, there could be a no holds barred battle for this pair getting set up for WrestleMania 42.

4. Randy Orton
In the potentially most lowkey top suspect, Randy Orton has remained near the drama but so far, stayed clear of it.
Although he wasn’t spotted backstage at the scene in the same way that Kit Wilson was which aroused enough suspicion in Fatu for him to attack Wilson as well, Orton still seems very capable of having pulled off the assault.
Clearly enjoying seeing Fatu lay chase to McIntyre, it could be that in the end it is revealed that The Viper was really the one who struck Jacob Fatu in a surprise reveal.
Possibly laying the groundwork for Orton to turn on Cody Rhodes in the future, there could be a whole host of new storylines coming soon for the legendary WWE star.

3. Shinsuke Nakamura
Always a suspect in a dastardly backstage attack, the heelish iteration of Shinsuke Nakamura would seem like a likely suspect.
Potentially striking Fatu and remaining hidden in plain sight, the reveal could push forward an interesting WrestleMania 42 match for the pair.
With Nakamura’s future in WWE after the end of his current contract is unknown — it could be fans’ last chance to see Shinsuke Nakamura appear at WrestleMania.
Back in action on SmackDown as of late, it may be that Nakamura is powering up to be revealed as the mystery attacker.

2. Cody Rhodes
There could be a last minute swerve coming on the Road to WrestleMania 42 — possibly hosting a storyline that sees
If Cody Rhodes doesn’t end up winning back the Undisputed WWE Championship ahead of the event and even loses the Elimination Chamber bout — he could certainly miss out on the main event.
In what could certainly serve as another marquee match on either night though, Rhodes vs. Fatu as Cody continues to tangle with a brand new brand of The Final Boss’ family tree.
Possibly ending up being backed by The Rock in order to drum up interest in WrestleMania 42 and a potential appearance, it could be that Jacob Fatu becomes Final Boss affiliated soon.

1. Santos Escobar
While he has made a return in AAA, perhaps there could be a reveal in the future featuring Santos Escobar returning to WWE SmackDown.
With the heel side of the SmackDown roster somewhat lacking in numbers, it might end up that there could be a brand new but familiar dastardly character that emerges.
Able to take responsibility for the attack since it happened while he was away from TV, the reveal could be a way for Escobar to re-launch himself on the main roster.
Recently appearing in NXT house shows along with Ethan Page, perhaps there is a dangerous duo as yet to be revealed for the blue brand.
