With a variety of potential returns coming soon in WWE, there could be some fan favorite tag teams reunited on screen.
From tag teams that have been away from WWE for quite some time, to others who could continue their crossover appearances in the company — there are some intriguing possibilities for returns.
Here are five former WWE tag teams that could be back in action in the company soon.
5. AJ Lee & Paige
With AJ Lee back in WWE, some fans remain hopeful that her former opponent and tag partner Paige could follow suit.
While their alliance was brief, it ended up being a memorable one for the duo of fan favorite frenemies.
Similar to AJ Lee’s decade-long absence in WWE, it has been over eight years since Paige last competed in a WWE ring, but she did return to in-ring action when she joined AEW in 2022.
Potentially being the next major Divas era star to make a big return to WWE, Paige could certainly end up lending a hand to AJ Lee before potentially turning heel on her later to kick off a feud between the pair.

4. Mustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven)
One tag team that could return to WWE with only a single member making his way back could be former NXT and NXT UK Tag Team Champions, Mustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven).
With Trent Seven currently a free agent there could be a return from the duo in the future in WWE.
Able to pull double duty — if you believe that Tyler Bate is Bravo Americano that is — there could be some enjoyable storylines with Bate flipping between two tag teams.
Making for a very fun throwback, the duo could be an excellent addition to the rebuilding NXT tag team division.

3. The Hardy Boyz (Matt & Jeff Hardy)
While there was speculation that the pair could make a long-awaited return to WWE, Matt & Jeff Hardy elected to re-sign with TNA Wrestling.
Anchoring the debut of a brand new show Thursday Night Impact on the AMC Network, it would seem that the pair are locked in for 2026 at least.
However, much like they did several times in 2025, The Hardys could make some appearances for WWE this year.
With WrestleMania 42 reportedly looking to bolster ticket sales, perhaps a big storyline featuring the notable fan favorites could be the perfect move to boost the Raw or SmackDown tag team division.

2. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens
In a return of a wildly popular tag team of the past, there could be a future that sees both Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens back in action in a WWE ring in 2026.
Chris Jericho remains missing in action from AEW since April 2025, but without confirmation of whether or not he will depart the company when his current contract is up it’s unclear when his much anticipated move to WWE will happen.
While Kevin Owens’ return status and plans for the future are currently unknown, like Jericho, WWE fans will be hoping to see him back in 2026.
With Owens potentially able to get back to in-ring action after he is fully recovered the neck fusion surgery he had in July 2025 — there could be hope for a return of Jeri-KO.

1. Demolition
Last February, it was reported that three-time WWE Tag Team Champions Demolition had signed Legends deals with WWE.
With the duo of Ax and Smash setting records and winning championships in the late 80s and early 90s, they are certainly warranted for a future WWE Hall of Fame induction.
Several legal disputes with WWE led to them being at odds with the company for many years, but now that the two sides are seemingly back on good terms, fans would love to see Demolition receive their flowers.
With only Stephanie McMahon announced for an induction thus far, Demolition could find themselves back in WWE for an appearance in Las Vegas for WrestleMania 42 and all of the Hall of Fame festivities.
