Money in the Bank is already shaping up to be a huge event for WWE.

Having graduated in recent years to one of the company’s “Big Five” events, fan expectations for the June 7 card are understandably high.

Few things excite WWE’s audience more than the surprise return of major former stars.

Given the gravitas of the event, this is something we’re likely to see – here are six potential names who could make a WWE comeback.

6. Goldberg

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg

Since Goldberg’s chaotic appearance at Bad Blood last year in a confrontation with Gunther, speculation about a WWE return has continued to grow.

The WCW legend has spoken for several years about wanting a retirement match, recently noting on a podcast with the Von Erichs that he wants his son Gage to walk him to the ring.

It certainly feels like the groundwork is being laid for that final bout to happen, perhaps at SummerSlam.

Could the first step come as soon as Money in the Bank?

5. Paige

Speculation continues to swirl about a potential WWE return for Paige (Saraya).

Since leaving AEW in March, she’s been teasing a comeback to the company where she helped redefine women’s wrestling.

Paige hasn’t wrestled in a WWE ring since 2017 due to a serious neck injury, only returning to action in AEW in 2022.

With WWE’s all-women’s PLE Evolution set for July 13, Money in the Bank could be the perfect place to kickstart her return.

4. The Hardy Boyz

When it comes to former WWE stars synonymous with ladders, no one fits the bill more than the Hardy Boyz.

To write the book of the ladder match in WWE, you’d need several chapters devoted exclusively to them.

Still at the top of the card in TNA, the brothers have remained relevant and beloved stars who continue to sell tickets.

It feels inevitable they’ll have a final run on the WWE main roster as part of the TNA partnership, so perhaps Money in the Bank could be where it begins.

3. Matt Cardona

Appearing recently on Chris Van Vliet’s show, Matt Cardona openly questioned why WWE hasn’t brought him back.

Since leaving the company and shedding the Zack Ryder persona, Cardona has reinvented himself as one of the biggest stars on the indies, with a successful run in TNA and noteworthy bout against Chris Jerico at ROH Final Battle last year.

Despite a few outings for AEW/ROH over the past few years, he’s not been offered a contract there either.

He remains one of the biggest names available to sign, and Money in the Bank could be a great place to restart his WWE career.

2. Rob Van Dam

Few performers are more synonymous with Money in the Bank than “Mr. Money in the Bank” himself, Rob Van Dam.

RVD was the second man to win the briefcase back in 2006, famously cashing in on John Cena at ECW One Night Stand.

Though he now wrestles only sporadically – most recently appearing for MLW at their Battle Riot show in April – a full-time WWE return for the trailblazing 90s star seems unlikely.

Still, a one-off appearance, with “One of a Kind” hitting the speakers at the Intuit Dome, would blow the roof off.

1. Lita

WWE legend Lita

Lita is one of WWE’s most iconic stars of the early 2000s.

With the announcement of a second all-women’s Evolution PLE, a return to WWE programming feels likely.

As a performer synonymous with the ladder, what better time to bring her back than Money in the Bank?

Perhaps we could see Lita appear in the Intuit Dome to set up a bout for Evolution.
