Former WWE Stars To Return At Crown Jewel 2025

WWE’s next PLE – Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia – takes place on October 11.

The show already has blockbuster champion vs. champion clashes set, as Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes faces World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton vs Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer.

Also confirmed is likely the last match between wrestling “soulmates” in John Cena’s words – Cena and AJ Styles.

As with all WWE PLEs, we could expect the show to feature surprises and returns as well – here are eight former WWE stars who could make an appearance when WWE heads to Australia.

8. Matt Cardona

On the September 23 edition of NXT, TNA Wrestling stars invaded during the main event.

Some of TNA’s top names appeared including Mike Santana, Moose, Frankie Kazarian, Steve Maclin, Eric Young and Matt Cardona.

The loudest reaction of the night went to Cardona, who was back on WWE TV for the first time since 2020.

Could we see WWE respond to that reaction and bring him back as soon as Crown Jewel in Perth?

7. Dakota Kai

Dakota Kai was released from WWE in May.

The New Zealand-born star has yet to appear for another company since her departure.

Kai’s former Damage CTRL partners – IYO Sky, Asuka and Kairi Sane – are now locked in a feud and look set to battle in some form at Crown Jewel.

With this in mind, and with the show taking place next door to Kai’s native country, perhaps there’s a chance we could see her make a surprise return.

6. The Good Brothers

At Crown Jewel, AJ Styles is set to reignite his celebrated rivalry with John Cena in one of Cena’s final in-ring bouts.

On the September 9 edition of Raw, Styles mentioned his former faction partners The Good Brothers, noting that for the first time in his career no one has his back.

Could this mention of the team – who were released earlier this year by WWE – be foreshadowing their return?

With Styles himself admitting he is close to retirement, it would be fitting to see Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows reappear at Crown Jewel to join him as he winds down his WWE career.

5. Emma

With this year’s Crown Jewel taking place in Perth, there may be a chance that some former Australian-born WWE stars could make appearances.

One name who fits the bill is Emma.

The 36-year-old native of Melbourne had two stints with WWE before her most recent release in July 2023.

An entertaining in-ring performer, we could at least see her make a cameo on the show.

4. The IIconics

The IIconics are another Australian-born act who could appear at Crown Jewel.

Both Sydney natives, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce (Jess McKay and Cassie Lee) were the second-ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, winning the belts at WrestleMania 35 from Sasha Banks and Bayley.

The duo recently made a comeback to in-ring action after some time away, returning to TNA as The IInspiration.

With WWE now working in partnership with TNA, there seems little standing in the way of the pair appearing in front of the Australian crowd at Crown Jewel – they were even among the names at NXT this past week.

3. Chris Jericho

WWE legend and AEW star Chris Jericho

For a number of months now, there has been a lot of speculation and rumours about the AEW future of Chris Jericho.

Jericho has been off AEW television for a number of months, with reports emerging that he may be set to make his return to WWE at the end of his AEW contract, which is set to expire late this year.

A final WWE run for Jericho leading to a Hall of Fame induction would seem like the right move to end his career.

With Jericho potentially on his way back, a big event would make the right place for Y2J to return to WWE.

2) Duke Hudson

A number of WWE stars have been released from the company this year, which includes the former Chase U member Duke Hudson.

Duke’s release came in January after the break up of the original Chase U stable.

With WWE returning to Australia, we could see some Australian faces make an appearance on the show, whether signed with the company or not.

A nice homecoming appearance for Duke Hudson would be a cool touch for the show.

Shayna Baszler was among the WWE stars released from the company back in May, though her situation is a lot less clear.

Since being released, Shayna returned to the WWE Performance Center, where she served as a guest producer for a number of NXT shows over the Summer.

Shayna also made a cameo appearance on the NXT Homecoming show from Full Sail University last week, so her face is still familiar to the WWE fans.

With the SmackDown women’s roster in need of some new faces, Shayna laying out Tiffany Stratton on behalf of her former tag team partner Nia Jax would be an impactful way to reintroduce her.
