Following a lot of speculation, it appears that WWE is officially preparing to bring Enzo Amore back to WWE TV.
Following Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reporting on October 6 that Enzo Amore joining WWE was “pretty much a done deal”, PWInsider has now reported that people backstage believe that Enzo Amore signed a new deal with WWE over the past week.
Enzo Amore last wrestled in WWE in January 2018, with his last televised match for the company being against Cedric Alexander on the January 8, 2018 Raw episode.
With the former Cruiserweight Champion having not wrestled for the company in almost nine years, there are many potential avenues for Enzo Amore in WWE, from main roster storylines to developmental roles.
Here are three potential directions for Enzo Amore’s WWE TV return.
Big Cass Reunion
Following a series of vignettes airing on WWE TV, Big Cass made his WWE return on the August 3 Raw episode, attacking Je’Von Evans.
Big Cass has somewhat been lost in the shuffle since then, not having picked up a singles victory on Raw programming since August 24.
With Cass most recently competing in tag-team action, teaming with Ethan Page against Dragon Lee and Chad Gable on October 26, there has been some speculation about Cass teaming with his former tag partner Enzo Amore.
With WrestleVotes previously reporting that some within WWE believed there was a feeling in creative that the audience was waiting for Enzo Amore, and that this was hampering what creative could do with Big Cass, we could see Amore hit the ground running with a reunion post-return.
NXT return
Both Dave Meltzer and PWInsider have indicated that there has been some talk about Enzo Amore potentially re-joining the NXT brand.
Amore is considered to be an NXT OG, learning directly from Dusty Rhodes following his WWE signing in August 2012.
With his last NXT match taking place in April 2016, it’d be interesting to see what WWE would do with him in the brand following his decade-long absence.
From NXT Champion Grayson Waller to North American Champion Jackson Drake, there are also several champions we could soon see lock horns with the former Cruiserweight Champion.
Performance Center Coach
With Enzo Amore having learned from WWE legends and having shared the ring with Hall of Famers, the star actually has a lot of knowledge he could pass down to the next generation of stars.
If Enzo does return to NXT, we could see him have a regular presence at the Performance Center, in a coach or producer role.
Enzo would be a key asset for promo classes, considering it was his talking ability which originally caught the attention of Triple H and earned him his first tryout, with this skill later refined by the likes of Dusty Rhodes.
