The WWE Hall of Fame is known for celebrating the legends of the past, but there have been very rare occasions where stars are inducted whilst they’re still on the road with the company.
Rey Mysterio in 2023 and Paul Heyman in 2024 are the two most recent examples, while the likes of Goldberg went on to wrestle for years after he was celebrated for his contributions to the business.
When looking at those currently active with WWE, here are three stars who could potentially get inducted into next year’s class.
Michael Cole
Two names not mentioned in our example of active WWE Hall of Fame inductions were Jim Ross and Jerry ‘The King Lawler.’
The legendary pairing were still performing their commentary duties when they received their Hall of Fame rings in 2007, and next year, 20 years on, we could see the current ‘Voice of WWE’ receive the same honor.
Michael Cole has been doing his thing at the WWE announce desk for three decades; longer than many talent on the roster have even been alive.
While he has had his critics over the years – particularly during his heel run – Cole’s longevity is unmatched and there has truly been no one more consistently available for the company for that long. His work deserves to be celebrated, and in 2027 we should see him announced as one of the headliners of the 2027 Hall of Fame class.
AJ Lee
If AJ Lee weren’t still listed as a ‘Current Superstar’ on WWE’s official roster page it would be hard to say that she is 100% an active wrestler right now.
The former WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion has been away from the ring since WrestleMania 42 and there’s not been much word on when we should expect her back.
No matter how often she’s around, this latest run has been a truly unexpected bonus. Few expected to see AJ back in WWE again, and she has only added to her already Hall of Fame worthy career over the past year.
Whether she wrestles again before then or not, AJ Lee would certainly be a worthy choice for the 2027 Hall of Fame.
Haku
If AJ Lee was stretching the definition of active WWE star, then Haku certainly is. But in fairness, at this point in time the former WWE World Tag Team Champion is very much involved in WWE TV on a weekly basis.
Being seen every week on SmackDown alongside his sons Tama and Talla Tonga, Haku has turned the duo into WWE Tag Team Champions and helped them regain their momentum after the collapse of their allegiance with Solo Sikoa.
While that’s now, Haku’s legacy obviously stretches far beyond that. Through the territories, Japan, WWE and WCW, Haku was presented as someone to be feared; but he by all accounts legitimately was outside of the ring as well.
With incredible longevity in the business, Haku is a glaring omission from the WWE Hall of Fame, but now that he’s back with the company he should be honored with an induction.
