With the new year has come shake-ups and call-ups across the WWE rosters, potentially signaling a shift in GMs is on the way.
While Ava has been exceptional in her role on NXT as GM so far, if there were new opportunities headed her way from the main roster — there are some intriguing prospects of who could take over the role.
Here are six potential replacements for Ava as the WWE NXT General Manager.
6. Big E
One potential WWE name that could pick up the task of controlling the chaos on NXT could be Big E.
While his enthusiasm and expertise have been a delight on WWE PLE broadcasts and beyond, there is definitely a case to be made to see more of Big E.
Able to become a unique type of GM, there is every possibility that the former WWE Champion could put his own spin on the role.
Bringing his solid character work as well as natural candor to NXT TV, Big E could be a solid addition to the weekly broadcast.

5. William Regal
While William Regal has returned to WWE after his time in AEW as an on-screen character – he has primarily remained behind the scenes.
But with Regal having the capacity to be one of the most compelling storytellers in the industry, it would make complete sense to see him back on WWE TV.
With Regal being one of the most emotionally evocative and compelling storytellers in the industry – it might make sense for him to be back in front of the camera in WWE at some point.
Perhaps well suited for a return to an on-screen authority role in NXT, there could be brand new stories for Regal to tell in WWE.

4. Charlie Dempsey
Another next generation star that may try his hand as an authority figure after Ava moves on from the role — Charlie Dempsey.
Able to play off of the relationship with iconic former WWE authority figure and Dempsey’s real life father William Regal, there could be an emotional storyline that comes from it.
Perhaps at Regal’s insistence, Dempsey could give being NXT GM a shot before discovering that it wasn’t for him – leading to an interesting moment where he would need to stand up to the legend.
Trying to re-invent himself under the watchful eye of his WWE Hall of Fame father, Dempsey could end up using his short forray as a GM to re-invent his character’s relationship with the audience.

3. Paige
Although in-ring return for former WWE Divas Champion Paige could be coming, perhaps she might pop-up as an authority figure instead.
Formerly a SmackDown GM on-screen, Paige could absolutely make a return to NXT in the same role as she steps in to help Ava out for a potential absence.
As the first ever NXT Women’s Champion, Paige definitely has history in the brand.
Able to control the chaos as a veteran of the industry, Paige could use her powers of persuasion for good — or evil, with WWE having been devoid of an outright heel authority figure for quite some time.

2. Arianna Grace
With the on-screen rivalry between TNA Wrestling and NXT going strong, there could be a memorable duo serving as respective GMs for the brands.
Swapping out Ava for Arianna Grace in NXT, there could be limitless fun crossover moments between the father-daughter duo.
Able to take on the role from Ava and put her own unique spin on it, Grace would also be primed for hilarious interactions with her real life father and TNA Wrestling Director of Authority, Santino Marella.
With Grace recently seemingly ‘betraying’ Santino in favor of her fiancée Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, there could be a ton of over the top drama between the group to make the perfect wacky storyline.

1. Billy Gunn
A potentially legendary addition to NXT as the next GM could certainly be worth the potential wait — Billy Gunn.
While Billy Gunn remains under contract with AEW – his time away from WWE has only furthered that he is a charismatic on-screen force.
Having been a great bolster to younger talent in AEW, Gunn could bring his immediate recognition as well as enthusiasm straight to NXT TV.
With Shawn Michaels the man in charge of NXT behind the scenes – a blast from the past pairing with fellow DX alum Billy Gunn would bring about a lot of potential funny moments.
