On September 13, Andrade was released from WWE for the second time.

The 35-year-old had recently teamed with fellow luchador Rey Fenix, showing promise in their early outings, but had not competed since the chaotic Six Pack Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match at SummerSlam.

With his brief return already over, the question now is whether Andrade could make his way back to AEW, where he wrestled from June 2021 to the end of 2023 – between his two WWE tenures.

Here are five potential directions for Andrade if he makes an AEW comeback.

5. Andrade Joins Rush In La Faccion Ingobernable

Andrade and AEW’s Rush are longtime partners with a deep shared history.

The two first formed Los Ingobernables in CMLL back in 2014, when Andrade was still masked as La Sombra – with Rush in the ring for his unmasking after losing to Atlantis at CMLL’s 82nd Anniversary Show in 2015, and later facing him in Sombra’s final CMLL match before leaving for WWE.

They reunited briefly in AEW when Rush debuted in May 2022, joining Andrade in La Facción Ingobernable.

If Andrade returns to AEW, the most logical move would be to reunite him with Rush, joining once again La Facción Ingobernable

4. Andrade To Feud With Sammy Guevara

While placing Andrade back with his longtime partner and friend Rush in La Facción Ingobernable feels like the most logical option for his AEW return, there is one complication.

At the recent ROH PPV Death Before Dishonor, Sammy Guevara joined Rush, Dralístico and The Beast Mortos in the group -and Guevara has combustible history with Andrade.

Back in October 2022, the two men had a backstage fight that saw Andrade sent home from the company and off television for an extended period.

Given those real-life issues, AEW could lean into the tension by having Andrade feud with Guevara – as long as they can get on the same terms and there are no issues left over from three years ago, it would be a rivalry that promises ferocious, violent bouts on AEW programming with an added layer of interest due to their past.

3. Andrade Becomes A Member Of The Don Callis Family

Don Callis continues to grow his Family, with Wardlow revealed as the latest addition at Forbidden Door.

Now standing at 11 members including those sidelined by injury – among them Wardlow himself after suffering a torn pec before even wrestling a match for the group – the stable has become one of the most talent-rich in the history of pro wrestling.

Could Andrade be next to join the ranks?

With his world-class work-rate and arrogant, supercilious persona, Andrade would be a natural fit if he does make his way back to AEW.

2. Forming A Tag Team With Komander

In the final months of Andrade’s short-lived WWE return, he formed a tag team with Rey Fenix.

Though they only teamed for six weeks, the duo stood out on SmackDown with excellent bouts against DIY and Fraxiom, showcasing instant chemistry.

If Andrade were to return to AEW, could another top luchadour recreate the same chemistry?

Komander feels like the perfect option – one of the few who can rival Fenix’s spectacular in-ring moveset, and once he’s back from injury, a pairing between the two luchadores could be on the cards.

1. Challenging Bandido For The ROH World Championship

AEW star Bandido

ROH World Champion Bandido has been making a strong case for wrestler of the year.

The 30-year-old luchador has been putting in spectacular bouts in Mexico’s CMLL, in AEW alongside tag team partner Brody King, and most impressively in Ring of Honor where he had two potential matches of the year in successive months – first against Konosuke Takeshita in July and then Hechicero in August.

Currently in ROH, Bandido is left without a serious contender for the title, but this is a role Andrade could fill.

The two luchadores have never met in a singles contest, but a first-time meeting with Andrade going after the belt could result in another potential match of the year.
