AEW Roster Changes Coming Soon

Much like after any other pay-per-view, AEW could make big changes to its roster once the dust has settled on WrestleDream 2025.

From an emerging division set for new titles, to a big potential new signing, there will likely be some shifts on AEW programming before the end of the year.

Here are five changes to the AEW roster potentially coming soon.

5. Death Riders 2.0

There could be a brand new start coming soon for Jon Moxley and the Death Riders in AEW.

With the match between Darby Allin and Jon Moxley set to be an ‘I Quit’ match at AEW WrestleDream 2025 — perhaps Moxley will end up departing AEW for a spell once the violent encounter is saint and done.

Able to concede the victory to Allin but continue their quest of domination, the Death Riders would undoubtedly continue but without Moxley as their leader for the time being.

Potentially leading to an intriguing potential struggle for power in the group, eventually Moxley would return but the chaos caused in his absence would be a great deal of fun to witness.

4. More Women’s Tag Teams Form

While Tony Khan confirmed that AEW would be introducing a new championship in the Women’s Tag Team Championship, more details are still yet to be revealed.

Regardless of when the titles are introduced there are plenty of women’s tag teams already in action on the AEW roster, so the foundation of a strong division is right there to pull from.

With the likes of Skye Blue & Julia Hart, Tay Melo & Anna Jay, The Vendetta (Deonna Purrazzo & Taya Valkyrie) and Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford — any existing team would make a logical choice to become inaugural champions.

Potential surprise combinations like Mercedes Mone & Harley Cameron or even a reunion between Jamie Hayter & Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., these and many potential others could end up making a big impact on the division.

3. The Hurt Syndicate Adds New Member

A WWE fan favorite faction may actually be on the verge of completely reuniting in AEW.

It had recently been revealed that Cedric Alexander’s contract with TNA Wrestling is almost up, possibly signalling that he could end up in AEW.

With Alexander being the only member of the original WWE faction The Hurt Business to not be currently in the AEW stable The Hurt Syndicate — it seems likely that Alexander could make an appearance in AEW soon.

Able to join as the third active member of their trio, their veteran leader MVP could be free to return to more managerial duties in lieu of more in-ring action.

2. Long Rumored Departures

With stars such as Ricky Saints, Rusev and Blake Monroe departing AEW after lengthy on-screen absences already in 2025, there is currently plenty of speculation regarding other names on Tony Khan’s roster who could be poised to follow suit, perhaps no more so than Chris Jericho.

After joining the company before their first TV deal was announced, Chris Jericho was a foundational member of the AEW roster, but it seems perhaps his time in the company is coming to an end. Jericho is reportedly contracted until the end of 2025 but hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since April when his character effectively wrote himself off TV.

Without a lot of contract details known about when fans could see the stars sprung from the AEW bench, stars like Danhausen, Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen also remain out of action and have been rumored to be subject of WWE interest.

Among those that are seemingly benched by AEW, not everyone could be eying a departure so we could soon see some of the absent names make their way back to AEW TV before long.

1. Beth Copeland Officially Debuts

WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix at AEW All Out

AEW All Out 2025 saw the reunion of Christian Cage and Adam Copeland as a tag team, but also, a surprise appearance by Copeland’s real life wife, WWE Hall of Famer Beth (fka Beth Phoenix).

While the conclusion of Copeland and Cage’s match against FTR at All Out 2025 was a victory, the post-match angle sealed the storyline with a shocking defeat.

With Copeland handcuffed and unable to intervene, FTR would go on to deliver a spike piledriver to Beth. This led to a segment where Copeland informed Cage he needed to take time away for his family — however, FTR hasn’t let up in the interim.

Continuing to mock the situation, it seems likely that FTR and Stokely will face comeuppance for their actions sooner rather than later.
