Coming out of AEW WrestleDream 2026, there has been some intrigue in potential returns coming in the future.
There are variety of major names that could be making a comeback before the end of 2026 and into 2027.
From up-and-coming names to established former champions, these names should even further bolster the roster in a meaningful way.
Here are five AEW returns potentially coming soon.
Buddy Matthews
Since February 2025, Buddy Matthews has been out of action with a serious ankle injury.
In the summer 2026, Matthews revealed that he had been medically cleared to compete.
The former House of Black member felt like someone who was gaining momentum prior to this injury setback.
With a robust and different roster waiting for him, there are some mouth watering matchups that could take place involving Buddy Matthews when he makes his comeback.
Mark Briscoe
Mark Briscoe hasn’t appeared on AEW television since losing to MJF for the AEW World Title back on the July 1 episode of Dynamite.
Recently, it was revealed that Briscoe was dealing with a legitimate injury.
After nearly four months on the shelf, Briscoe could make his comeback in the near future.
Considering his role in The Conglomeration and being one of the most popular stars in AEW, there is a lot of potential for Mark Briscoe when he finally makes his return to the company.
Hologram
When he was first introduced to All Elite Wrestling, Hologram has been undefeated in the company.
The luchador has used his amazing high flying style to his benefit and overcome everyone in front of him.
Then in late 2025, Hologram went down with a serious knee injury that required surgery.
Hologram has a lot to offer and could be back to form after spending over a year on the sidelines.
MJF
At AEW All In London 2026, Andrade El Idolo won the Casino Gauntlet to earn a guaranteed shot at the AEW World Championship.
Following his failure to win this title shot, Maxwell Jacob Friedman snapped and promised revenge.
Feeling that Will Ospreay was the reason he lost the AEW World Title, MJF vowed to avenge this loss.
MJF returning to AEW should set the stage for a title unification with Ospreay in the near future.
“Timeless” Toni Storm
Following AEW WrestleDream 2026, various fans and media revealed that they received what has been dubbed “The Toni Storm Tapes.”
Teasing her eventual return to All Elite Wrestling, the tapes have created a mystery for the upcoming comeback of the former four-time AEW Women’s World Champion.
“The Timeless One” is one of the biggest names on the AEW roster and someone who has been sorely missed in the women’s division.
With Mercedes Monè lacking credible challengers for the AEW Women’s World Champion, “Timeless” Toni Storm’s eventual return could not come at a better time for “The CEO” or the entire company.
