A recent report has revealed that WWE is already discussing the potential retirement of Rey Mysterio in 2027.
With next year possibly seeing the end of Mysterio and Adam Copeland’s careers, there could be other WWE stars to hang up their boots.
There are various names on the WWE roster from longtime veterans to acclaimed champions that could be on their final year in the next 12 months.
Here are four more potential WWE retirements in 2027 alongside Rey Mysterio.
AJ Lee

In 2025, AJ Lee made her return to WWE after nearly a decade away from the pro wrestling business.
Since making her return, Lee has had a part-time schedule, but she has still made a major impact with her feud with Becky Lynch and winning the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
After losing the title to Lynch at WrestleMania 42, Lee has been absent from the company.
When she does return, it could be for one final run before AJ Lee finally hangs up her shorts and Chuck Taylors once and for all.
R-Truth
At 54 years old, R-Truth is the oldest member of the WWE roster slightly edging out Rey Mysterio.
In 2025, it looked like Truth’s stint in WWE was coming to an end when his contract expired.
However, the fans and wrestlers alike rallied around Truth to bring him back to the promotion.
Truth retiring from in-ring competition would be a significant change and allow the fans to properly say goodbye to one of the most beloved WWE stars of the past two decades.
Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura is someone who has spent the past decade in WWE, further cementing his legacy that started in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Before signing with WWE in 2016. Nakamura became a mainstay for NJPW and had several major feuds that helped bring the company back to prominence.
Over the past year, “The King of Strong Style” has seen two of his greatest rivals in Hiroshi Tanahashi and AJ Styles retire from the squared circle.
At just 46 years old, Nakamura may want to follow in their footsteps and call it a career before he is unable to compete at a high level.
CM Punk
Another WWE star who might feel the need to end things before he is physically unable to do so in 2027 is CM Punk.
“The Best In The World” returned to wrestling in 2021 for All Elite Wrestling before making a comeback to WWE just two years later. Since then, there is no denying that Punk has solidified his place in the company’s history.
With a legendary résumé, Punk is someone who could stand with the all-time greats that have stepped in a WWE ring and will be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
While he is still at the top of his game, Punk feels like the kind of competitor who sees his former rivals John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Rey Mysterio all retiring and wants to retire while he is still feeling among the best wrestlers in the world today.
