5 New AEW Championships

There’s certainly no shortage of championships in AEW.

Between the two Tony Khan–booked promotions, AEW and ROH currently have 15 active titles – 8 in AEW and 7 in ROH.

However, more championship gold seems to be on the way.

Here are five possible new titles that could debut soon across the Khan-verse.

5. Women’s ROH Pure Championship

A new title that has already been officially announced is the ROH Women’s Pure Championship.

Revealed by Tony Khan in April, the belt has yet to crown its inaugural champion, with a tournament currently unfolding on ROH’s weekly programming.

Like the original ROH Pure Title, it comes with a unique rule set: competitors are allowed just three rope breaks per match, after which the ropes can no longer be used to stop a pin or submission.

Whoever wins the tournament will become the 16th active champion currently recognised across AEW and ROH.

4. Mixed Tag Team Championship

At last year’s Double or Nothing post-show press conference, Tony Khan revealed he was considering introducing new tag team titles to AEW.

His proposal was Mixed Tag Team Championships — a concept, he stated, that would set AEW apart from other major promotions.

While not intergender in the traditional sense (men and women wouldn’t compete directly against one another), the idea of pairing male and female competitors promised some unique combinations and matchups.

However, with no further updates in the year since, it’s possible the concept has quietly been shelved.

3. Junior Heavyweight Championship

Last month on X, Will Ospreay praised tournaments as the “heart of wrestling” and floated the idea of a Junior Heavyweight Cup.

Ospreay first rose to prominence in Japan as a junior heavyweight, capturing New Japan Pro Wrestling’s prestigious IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title.

It’s a style and division AEW is currently missing – a dedicated spotlight for non-heavyweight stars to showcase their talent against one another.

2. Top Of The Class Trophy Championship

One forgotten title from the early days of Ring of Honor was the Top of the Class Trophy, active between 2005 and 2008.

Contested exclusively by trainees and novice talent, it acted as a proving ground for the company’s future stars.

Reviving the concept in either ROH or AEW could help spotlight emerging talent and give younger names something to fight for.

A yearly tournament could crown a new holder, who would attempt to defend it until it was reset at the end of each year.

1. Women’s Tag Team Championship

There’s a glaring omission in AEW’s title picture: a Women’s Tag Team Championship.

With competitive male and female divisions across AEW and ROH, it’s the one major void remaining for its female talent.

However, some sources claim the belts have already been minted, and it’s something Tony Khan seems keen on doing.

The only question now is, how long before AEW officially announces them?
