WWE SmackDown and Raw have their fair share of interesting tag teams right now in their separate divisions.
When looking at both rosters, there are a variety of intriguing duos that could be formed between the two brands.
Whether it be reuniting former partners or creating brand new teams who could take over both shows, these partnerships could alter the landscape of the WWE main roster moving forward.
Here are eight potential new WWE SmackDown and Raw tag team partners.
8. The Lucha Bros (Penta & Rey Fenix)
In January 2025, Penta officially made his WWE debut as the newest member of the Monday Night Raw.
Then in April, Rey Fenix joined his brother in WWE, but became part of the Friday Night SmackDown brand.
When both former AEW stars made their debut in the company, many fans expected WWE to pair up The Lucha Bros on the main roster.
This has not been meant to be up until now, but The Lucha Bros need to have that long awaited reunion in their new home sooner rather than later, particularly with Rey Fenix being left rather directionless on SmackDown.

7. LA Knight & Matt Cardona
Back in November 2025, LA Knight defeated the returning Zack Ryder in the Last Time Is Now Tournament.
Knight and Ryder showed respect to one another backstage in a social media exclusive following their match.
To kick off 2026, Ryder officially re-signed with WWE, only this time under his real name Matt Cardona and became part of the Friday Night SmackDown roster.
Now that they are both officially part of the WWE roster, Knight and Cardona could make for a formidable pairing together.

6. Johnny Gargano & Austin Theory
In January, Tommaso Ciampa officially departed from WWE at the end of his contract with the promotion.
With Ciampa signing with All Elite Wrestling, it leaves Johnny Gargano on his own in WWE now.
Ending DIY as a duo, Gargano might want to reunite with another former tag team partner who is currently on the Raw roster.
Despite being part of The Vision, Austin Theory could want some gold and look to his former NXT mentor Gargano to reform The Way in front of the main roster audience.

5. Trick Williams & Je’Von Evans
Towards the tailend of 2025, several top WWE NXT stars have made their way and started to make a name for themselves on the main roster.
On Friday Night SmackDown, Trick Williams has become the hottest new star on the brand. Meanwhile, Je’Von Evans has taken Monday Night Raw by storm with his thrilling in-ring style.
During their time on NXT, Williams and Evans were rivals going after the NXT Championship, but the pair were also once tag team partners.
Reuniting on the next stage of their individual careers, Trick and Je’Von could be a partnership that benefits both men as they continue to climb the ladder in the company.

4. Aleister Black & Rusev
In April 2025, former AEW stars Aleister Black and Rusev made their way back to WWE after several years away.
While Rusev started to reestablish himself on Monday Night Raw, Aleister Black has joined forces with his wife Zelina Vega on Friday Night SmackDown.
Despite coming back to the company with a ton of momentum, both men have struggled as of late to get wins or consistent TV time on Raw and SmackDown.
Black and Rusev uniting as a tag team might be what both stars need to regain their lost momentum moving forward on the main roster.

3. Sheamus & Drew McIntyre
Sheamus and Drew McIntyre have had some of the most intense and heated battles seen in WWE in recent memory.
These in-ring encounters led to the longtime friends becoming a tag team back in 2022 where they got close to capturing the WWE Tag Team Champions.
While they were not able to do so then, fans could see the former Banger Bros reunite sometime down the road.
With McIntyre currently holding the Undisputed WWE Champion, a reunion with Sheamus might be what he needs to continue his reign just a little bit longer.

2. Asuka & Giulia
At WWE Royal Rumble 2026, one of the more notable moments in the Women’s Royal Rumble saw a three-way showdown between Asuka, IYO SKY and Giulia.
Later in that same match, Asuka’s Kabuki Warriors tag team partner Kairi Sane accidentally eliminated her senpai to the dismay of “The Empress of Tomorrow.”
This accident by Kairi might lead to Asuka finally turning on her protégé and cutting her free from her control.
Asuka replacing Kairi with Giulia might be a great way to establish a brand new tag team that has everything it takes to become the next WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

1. CM Punk & Cody Rhodes
Over the past few years, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk have made it no secret that they are very close friends.
While tensions have risen between the two in the past, Rhodes and Punk have remained loyal to one another, teaming on several different occasions, including in the Men’s WarGames at WWE Survivor Series 2025.
Both Punk and Rhodes are embroiled in the world title picture on their individual brands with “The American Nightmare” being a former Undisputed WWE Champion and feuding with Drew McIntyre, while “The Best In The World” holding the top prize on Raw.
When the time is right, Punk and Rhodes might feel it necessary to come together and make their union a permanent one that could help both men remain at the top of WWE for a long time.
