In the world of WWE, storylines have to be twisted and turned rapidly if necessary however sometimes the plans get scrapped all together.
From future character developments that would have to come about through different means to a long teased feud that never came to pass, there have been some intriguing recent examples.
Here are 7 potential WWE storylines that have been canceled.
7. Bron Breakker Babyface Turn
With Bron Breakker joining Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman in The Vision faction, it seemed as though he could have a slow babyface turn incoming.
However, after Rollins was taken out of action due to injury — it would be an on-screen attack from Breakker that wrote him off TV.
Keeping up his heel persona for now, Breakker has remained united with both Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman, the latter he may end up regretting in the future.
Although Breakker could still be endeared to the audience through being the victim of a dastardly betrayal orchestrated by Heyman — we’ll have to stay tuned to find out if it happens any time soon.

6. Liv Morgan vs. Nikki Bella
After making a big return at the Royal Rumble 2025, Nikki Bella seemed poised to have a feud with Liv Morgan.
However after picking up a shoulder injury in June that required surgery, Morgan was unable to compete and the storyline scrapped.
It doesn’t seem as though WWE will plan to circle back around to this feud in the near future, unless Bella turns heel.
When Liv Morgan does return on-screen it is believed she will be a babyface, poised to potentially take on the likes of the heels Becky Lynch and Roxanne Perez.

5. John Cena vs. Kevin Owens
Being taken out of action ahead of WrestleMania 41, Kevin Owens is one former rival that neither babyface nor heel John Cena faced in his retirement tour.
While Owens has undergone neck surgery, his future in professional wrestling remains unclear as he continues his rehabilitation.
Although the pair won’t face off against before John Cena hangs up his boots and retires from in-ring competition, there has been a fun recent moment that brought the rivals back together — sort of.
Owens paid homage to Cena’s farewell in his own way though, recently dressing up as the retiring Cena for a night out with his family for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney World.

4. The Vision Faction
A casualty of Seth Rollins’ injury was also the potential for The Vision faction to have expanded to include new members before it disbanded.
With Rollins flanked by Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, it seemed as though there was room for expansion in the group.
With plenty of names from NXT thrown out as potentials that could also fit the vision of the group from Rollins’ perspective — we’ll never know if there was meant to be more proteges of the Visionary brought into the group.
While the group may have made a big impact in a short amount of time, their rise to taking over the WWE roster has been scrapped.

3. Charlotte Flair vs. Alexa Bliss
While their original partnership was reportedly set to be short before the duo feuded with one another —instead Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss have continued to reign as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Making for a precarious alliance at first, the two veterans seem to genuinely enjoy their current characters and have become a popular pair with fans.
This storyline could always come back around in the future with Bliss presumably still with motive to turn on Flair.
Unlikely to have forgotten their match at Extreme Rules 2021 where Charlotte viciously murdered Bliss’ Lily doll, there could definitely be conflict in the future between the pair.

2. Austin Theory vs. Grayson Waller
While they were partnered in the A-Town Down Under tag team for quite some time, the final months between Austin Theory and Grayson Waller seemed rife with tension.
However, there wasn’t any payoff to the percolating break-up story with Grayson Waller swiftly noting in a backstage segment with the New Day that Theory was injured and their team was over.
Although Austin Theory has been rumored to be planned as a member of the heel squad for the upcoming men’s Survivor Series WarGames team — the team already is set for changes after Seth Rollins’ injury.
Depending on if Theory returns as a babyface or a heel character, he could still end up getting revenge on Grayson Waller for his perceived mistreatment during their time as a tag team.

1. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 42
One of the numerous changes that would seemingly come from Seth Rollins injury after Crown Jewel 2025 is the long term ramifications for WrestleMania 42.
With WrestleMania 42 set to be hosted in Las Vegas again, it was reported that the creative direction would be for a singles showdown between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns at the big event.
However with that storyline seemingly in jeopardy — Rollins injury expected to take him out of action possibly through WrestleMania season — there could be something entirely new coming ahead.
Potentially swapping out Rollins for CM Punk or even Jey Uso — leading to the ultimate showdown between Bloodline fan favorites — there could end up being an entirely different opponent for Reigns.
