In 2025, WWE has acquired several new signings that have benefitted its roster across all three brands.
While the likes of Penta, Ricky Saints and Rusev have bolstered the Raw and NXT rosters, SmackDown has seen Rey Fenix and Aleister Black make their arrivals in a major way on the blue brand.
The free agency market is filled with talented individuals that could only add depth and bring value to SmackDown in the weeks and months to come.
Looking at current and future free agents, here are seven new potential WWE signings for SmackDown.
7. Jeff Cobb
Back in March, it was reported that Jeff Cobb had been seen on WWE’s internal roster with most believing he was on his way to the company.
While he went on to win the IWGP Tag Team Championships with Callum Newman at NJPW Sakura Genesis in April, New Japan soon announced the abrupt departure of Cobb.
The former NJPW World TV Champion is someone who can immediately make an impact in WWE and belongs on the main roster.
With reports indicating that Cobb is expected to start on the SmackDown roster, there are a litany of possibilities for the former NJPW star to make a name for himself on day one in WWE.

6. Mariah May
No other potential WWE signing has created quite the hype and discussion as much as Mariah May.
Currently in her contract year with All Elite Wrestling, recent reports have indicated that the former AEW Women’s World Champion wants to work for WWE when she becomes a free agent.
At just 26 years old, Mariah possesses everything necessary to become a star for WWE with two years of experience on television and all the skills to become a champion.
While most fans might believe she will start on NXT, May has more than proven that she is worthy of being on the main roster and SmackDown feels like an ideal spot where she could feud with the likes of Charlotte Flair and Naomi.

5. Paige (Saraya)
After announcing her departure from All Elite Wrestling, fans immediately expected that Saraya’s next destination would be her former home, WWE.
Saraya making her way back to WWE and becoming Paige once again feels like a case of “when,” not “if.”
While she was not cleared to compete when she was previously under contract, Paige should be able to step inside the squared circle when she returns to WWE due to being cleared to compete in AEW for the past several years.
With two decades of experience in the wrestling industry, Paige has so much more to offer and could become a locker room leader for the current landscape of the WWE women’s division.

At WWE Royal Rumble 2025, Nikki Bella made her in-ring return to the company by entering the women’s Royal Rumble match as the number 30 entrant.
The multi-time WWE Divas Champion could bring a ton of star power and experience to the current landscape of the women’s division if she chose to come back full-time.
Since this comeback in February, Bella has made it clear she is open to doing more work with WWE moving forward.
Signing to be part of the SmackDown brand, the legendary star would make for an intriguing opponent for the new stars on the roster like Tiffany Stratton or Jade Cargill.

3. Matt Cardona
No other former WWE star has quite reinvented themselves since leaving the promotion quite like Matt Cardona.
The former Zack Ryder has gone on to achieve greatness across the pro wrestling world by winning championship gold and creating moments wherever he goes.
Although he remains a top name for the likes of GCW and across the independent scene, Cardona has always had his eyes set on a return to WWE.
Joining SmackDown, Cardona could become aligned on-screen with his wife Chelsea Green and bring their successful independent act to WWE for the first time.

On May 5, it was revealed that The Righteous had departed All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor after two years with the promotion.
After some speculation, a new report revealed that Vincent and Dutch had requested their release from the company, and the request was granted.
Following a tease from Karrion Kross about the duo potentially coming to WWE, it feels like the former AEW stars joining the company is a real possibility.
The Righteous bring something unique to WWE that isn’t seen by many tag teams in the company and could stand out over on the SmackDown brand where they would give a fresh opponent for the likes of Street Profits and Motor City Machine Guns.
