With the winds of change blowing in WWE after the retirement of John Cena, there could be a brand new crop of champions coming soon.
From a match that is already set for the first week of 2026 to others that have been teased already — there could be some big title changes coming in the first part of the year.
Here are seven WWE Championship changes that could be coming soon.
7. World Heavyweight Champion — Bron Breakker

When Seth Rollins was taken out of action due to injury in real life, in storyline it was Bron Breakker who took him out.
Seemingly hesitant to give back the WWE World Heavyweight Championship once it within his grasp, Breakker did not forget about his quest to bring the title back to The Vision.
Breakker will face CM Punk for a shot at the title on the first WWE Raw on Netflix in 2026 on January 5.
Potentially closing in on his first World title victory, Breakker could go on to face any number of opponents as the Road to WrestleMania kicks off including a re-match with Punk, Roman Reigns or even Brock Lesnar.

6. Women’s World Champion – Liv Morgan

Although Stephanie Vaquer continues to hold the WWE Woemn’s World Championship on WWE Raw, it could be that her first title reign isn’t destined to be a lengthy one.
Since the return of Liv Morgan to the Judgment Day, there has seemingly been delicate peace within the group but things could change with a big upcoming opportunity for Raquel Rodriguez.
After Nikki Bella attempted to demand a title rematch from Stephanie Vaquer on a recent edition of WWE Raw, instead Bella was taken out by Raquel Rodriguez who went on to challenge Vaquer to a match on WWE Raw.
Potentially leading to the collapse of the Judgment Day, it might end up being Liv Morgan who takes down Vaquer — but has Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez turn on her in the process.

5. United States Championship — Oba Femi

After making an amazing debut on SmackDown to confront Cody Rhodes, the NXT Champion Oba Femi went on to have an impressive showing.
Making the most of his time on-screen during the big farewell night for John Cena on Saturday Night’s Main Event, the match between Femi and Cody Rhodes would end up in a non-finish.
After Drew McIntyre attacked Rhodes, Oba Femi would find himself in a face-to-face with the former World Heavyweight Champion that made the audience go wild.
Potentially able to pop-up as an answerer to Ilja Dragunov’s United States Championship Open Challenge, Oba Femi could find himself in the main event scene on the main roster very soon.

4. World Tag Team Championship – The New Day

Although AJ Styles and Dragon Lee have been tag team partners for a relatively short amount of time, they have seen undeniable success.
Now with Styles and Lee confronted by both The New Day as well as The Usos, it could be that a change is coming soon.
With The Usos already alluding to a resurrection of the classic feud between The Usos and The New Day, it could be that their rivalry kicks off a whole new chapter.
Possibly paving the way for the return of Matt and Jeff Hardy to WWE and the unscoured ground between a trio of the industry’s best tag teams, there might be an exciting WrestleMania 42 battle incoming.

3. Tag Team Championship – MFTs

A feud that has continued to heat up over the past few months are the Wyatt Sicks and the MFTs.
Being led by Solo Sikoa making it clear they’re coming for the Wyatt Sicks’ tag team titles Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Talla Tonga and JC Mateo could all be viable candidates to compete.
With the groups continuing to have compelling segments, it could be that a match is on the horizon.
In a case of a feud that could go back and forth with the titles and still be fresh and interesting because of the sheer number of combinations of characters, there could be a memorable rivalry building.

2. Women’s Intercontinental Championship — Becky Lynch

A title change that seems entirely possible on TV any given week could be the women’s Intercontinental Championship.
While Maxxine Dupri shocked the world when she captured the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship from Becky Lynch, it would seem that Lynch may get it back soon.
Potentially leading a storyline for Becky Lynch and AJ Lee to tussle over the IC title on the Road to WrestleMania 42, it could also end up that Lynch finds herself in a different title picture.
With Becky featuring in the WrestleMania 42 adverts already released that seem to suggest she’s on the road to big things in Vegas — if not the IC title, it seems she will be in a title hunt sometime soon.

1. Undisputed WWE Champion — Brock Lesnar

It certainly seems as though the career of Brock Lesnar may be winding down in WWE — making it perhaps the perfect time for him to capture gold once again.
With theoretically limited appearances, it could be that Lesnar picks up the Undisputed WWE Championship sooner rather than later, leading to a compelling storyline for WrestleMania 42.
Also leading to an intriguing opportunity for Rhodes to have a story of overcoming obstacles, he could potentially make WWE history.
If Cody were to capture the 2026 Royal Rumble victory, he will join Stone Cold Steve Austin as the only other WWE star in history to win the iconic match three times.
