Over the past year, there have many different stars who have been signed and made their way over to the WWE SmackDown brand.

Looking at the current roster, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and The Motor City Machine Guns have all immediately made a name for themselves on the blue brand.

In more recent months, Rey Fenix has been a standout and has made his presence felt on SmackDown, which could open the door for more signings to make their way on the program.

With the current slate of talent on their way or with the potential to join the company, here are seven new WWE signings for SmackDown.

7. Aleister Black

The April 25 episode of Friday Night SmackDown will see the reemergence of a dark and mysterious figure in Aleister Black coming back into the fold.

The former AEW star has been absent from the company since 2021 and makes his way back to a completely different WWE than the one he left previously.

With Triple H at the helm of creative, Black has someone he is very familiar working with from their time together in NXT and could be in line for the biggest push he’s ever received on the WWE main roster.

Black has everything it takes from in-ring ability, talking skills and overall presence that could make him a main event level talent on the SmackDown brand following his return.

6. Jeff Cobb

New WWE signing Jeff Cobb

A new free agent that has just joined the open market is former NJPW World TV Champion Jeff Cobb.

After nearly six years with New Japan Pro Wrestling, the company recently announced his abrupt departure after recently winning the IWGP World Tag Team Championship alongside Callum Newman at NJPW Sakura Genesis on April 5.

This sudden exit comes off the heel of speculation and reports that Cobb was on his way to WWE after his name appeared on the internal roster.

At 42 years old, this seems like a “now or never” situation for Cobb to come into WWE where he could be an immediate player on the SmackDown brand.

At WWE Royal Rumble 2025, Nikki Bella made her return to the company as the number 30 entrant in the women’s Royal Rumble match.

Bella has made it no secret that she is more than open to do more with WWE coming off of this surprise appearance.

However, nothing has seemed to be confirmed or announced in regards to when the former Divas Champion will show up again.

WWE could facilitate this by officially signing Bella to make her return and be a featured star on SmackDown once again.

4. Saraya (Paige)

In March, Saraya revealed that she was departing All Elite Wrestling after a three-year stint with the promotion.

The former AEW Women’s World Champion immediately became a top star for the company’s women’s division as soon as she arrived and brought a boost in star power.

After being away from WWE for several years, it might be time for Paige to make a comeback to her original home where she could mix it up with a brand new crop of talent.

Paige facing off with new stars like Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill or Chelsea Green on SmackDown could present a bunch of new and exciting matchups for one of the stalwarts of the Women’s Revolution.

3. Matt Cardona

Since being released from WWE in 2020, Matt Cardona has reinvented himself and became a top talent on the independent scene.

As “The Indy God” and “Deathmatch King,” Cardona has presented himself in a fresh way that has made fans out of some people who did not always enjoy Zack Ryder during his time in WWE.

After five years away from the promotion, Cardona has made it known that he is open to making a comeback to WWE in some form or fashion.

Following in the footsteps of Cody Rhodes or Drew McIntyre, the former Intercontinental Champion should find himself returning to a more prominent position where he can climb the ladder under Triple H over on SmackDown than he did in the past under Vince McMahon.

2. Britt Baker

While she is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, Britt Baker has found herself mentioned quite often as a potential departure in the near future.

Following a five-month absence from AEW TV, it is not surprising that some fans believe that Baker may be on her way out of the promotion.

It feels like the former AEW Women’s World Champion’s best days in the company may be behind her after several different setbacks in the recent years.

Looking at her run in AEW and the skills she has displayed, Baker feels like the perfect kind of talent for WWE to bring in where she could play a significant role on the SmackDown brand moving forward.

1. Mariah May

Following her bloody Hollywood Ending Match against Timeless Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Revolution, reports circulated that Mariah May was in her contract year with the company.

This led to some cryptic social media posts from May and more reports indicating that she may want to leave the promotion to make her way over to WWE.

Mariah is the kind of star who seems tailor made to be on the WWE roster sometime throughout her career, so her making the move after her successful two-year stint in AEW makes all the sense in the world.

With potential dream matches against Tiffany Stratton, Naomi or Charlotte Flair, Mariah would feel like a splendid fit on SmackDown where it should only be a matter of time before she captures the WWE Women’s Championship.
