For the first time in its 37-year history, SummerSlam is a two-night event, taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Given the significance of the show, there are likely to be a host of surprises across both nights.
While surprises seem inevitable, what they might actually be remains firmly up for discussion.
Below are seven surprises we could see across 2 and 3 August.
7. The Rocks Appears

After orchestrating John Cena’s heel turn — both in storyline and reportedly behind the scenes — at Elimination Chamber, The Rock’s absence at WrestleMania 41 was conspicuous.
As a result, there’s still been no payoff to his involvement with Cena.
Could The Rock return in the main event of night two, as Cena and Cody Rhodes battle in a Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship?
Given his ability to pick his own spots and the significance of the first-ever two-night SummerSlam, a surprise return feels entirely possible.

6. Bianca Blair Returns

Bianca Belair suffered a finger injury at WrestleMania 41 during the show-stealing three-way for the Women’s World Title against IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley.
However, WrestleVotes reported this week that she’s expected to be medically cleared for an imminent return.
While not officially announced for the card, it’s very possible she appears — and even gets physical.
Given her storyline ties to both Women’s World Champion Naomi and the Cargill–Stratton feud for the WWE Women’s Championship, which title picture will she step into?

5. Hardy Boyz Added to Ladder Match

One of the most iconic surprises in WrestleMania history came at WrestleMania 33, when The Hardys made a shock return and were added to the Raw Tag Team Title ladder match.
Could we see history repeat itself at this year’s SummerSlam?
Night Two of the event promises a six-team ladder match featuring The Wyatt Sicks, The Street Profits, DIY, Motor City Machine Guns, Andrade & Rey Fénix, and Fraxiom.
Already a potential in-ring show-stealer for the weekend, the surprise inclusion of The Hardys could turn it into an iconic SummerSlam moment.

4. Alexa Bliss Turns on Charlotte Flair

On Night One of SummerSlam, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are set to challenge Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the team of Flair and Bliss was originally intended as a one-off, leading to an immediate breakup and feud — a plan reportedly scrapped when the pairing caught on with the WWE fanbase.
A surprise at SummerSlam could see that split take place.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Bliss recently acknowledged in an interview the ongoing possibility of her joining The Wyatt Sicks — could that be the surprise of the night?

3. Seth Rollins Cashes In

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Seth Rollins appeared to suffer an injury during his bout with LA Knight — the match ended abruptly, with Rollins taking a quick loss.
However, the injury — or at least the extent of it — has been widely disputed.
Speculation suggests that Rollins could return during the main event of Night One, as perennial rival CM Punk battles GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Title — cashing in his briefcase and stealing the belt.
As far as surprises go, this feels like one of the most likely to take place at the show.

2. Paul Heyman Accompanies Becky Lynch To The Ring

At Night Two of SummerSlam, Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria once again clash for the Intercontinental Title — this time with a no count-out and no disqualification stipulation.
An excellent in-ring bout would come as no surprise; given their prior matches, this is one to watch as a potential sleeper hit of the weekend.
What would be a surprise is Paul Heyman accompanying Lynch to the ring, signalling her formal alignment with his faction.
Having repeatedly referenced real-life husband Seth Rollins in promos since turning heel, Lynch joining the top heel stable would make perfect storyline sense.

1. John Cena and Cody Rhodes Double Turn

It was widely reported that The Rock lobbied for Cody Rhodes to turn heel ahead of facing John Cena at WrestleMania.
This was ultimately decided against, and the storyline played out with Cena turning instead.
However, in a recent interview with Kay Adams, Rhodes mentioned being at the “tail end” of his babyface run.
With Cena entering the final months of his career — which he must end as a babyface — could we see a shocking double turn in the main event of Night Two of SummerSlam?
