With John Cena set for his final WWE show as an in-ring performer, it would seem that there may be some surprises at the event.
From familiar faces from the past popping back up ahead of Cena’s retirement to unforeseen match finishes, there could be some very interesting moments set for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Here are six potential surprises in store for John Cena’s final WWE show.
6. On-Screen Appearance From AEW Stars
One surprise that could happen at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 would be for some familiar faces to bid Cena their adieus.
While WWE is certain to have some sort of video package in honor of the retiring John Cena that may reveal farewell messages from his WWE contemporaries, there are some AEW stars that could pop up as well.
With plenty of names who have history with Cena currently signed to AEW – including Adam Copeland, Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, Paul Wight, Christian Cage, Samoa Joe, Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, Dustin Rhodes, Johnny TV, the Hurt Syndicate and more – it may be unlikely that they appear live, but perhaps there will be surprise video messages like there were from Danielson, Jericho and Wight for Cena’s 20-year celebration on Raw in 2022.
The occasion may be big enough for them to be given the chance to offer their send-offs despite working for AEW.

5. Mystery Masked Man Strikes
While Saturday Night’s Main Event is set to be all about John Cena, there could still be a reveal or an attack by the latest WWE mystery assailant.
After jumping over the barricade to scale the cage during the men’s WarGames match, the figure left no clues to their identity aside from their build and ease in which they got in and out the cage.
While it has yet to be revealed who the mystery attacker was at WarGames, a mystery makes man – who may or may not have been the same person – struck again on WWE Raw by attacking both Rey Mysterio and LA Knight.
Potentially revealing more about their identity based on who is their next target, more could come to light about the mystery figure at John Cena’s last WWE show.

4. NXT Star Squashes Opponent
A big in-ring surprise on the night could come from one of the announced NXT vs. main roster matches.
Since there is a rare opportunity for an NXT talent to pick up a massive victory over a main roster star, perhaps there will be a surprise victory at the event.
Possibly setting up the new feud between Cody Rhodes or Bayley and their next main roster opponent, a distraction or interference could end up handing Oba Femi or Sol Ruca respectively a very big opportunity.
With Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar still lurking about and potentially in hunt of Cody Rhodes, it could be that Saturday Night’s Main Event ends up revealing more than just John Cena’s last match.

3. Celebrities Come Out To Celebrate Cena
Since WWE has welcomed celebrities with open arms as of late, it would make sense to see the final WWE event of John Cena’s in-ring career bringing in a who’s who of Hollywood WWE fans.
Unlikely to announce all of the well-known attendees set for the night, there could be some celebrity surprises at John Cena’s last match in Washington, DC from all genres of mainstream culture.
With a Hollywood career that has seen him on-screen with plenty of well-known stars, there could be any number of celebs on hand to celebrate the career of John Cena.
From professional athletes to rappers, actors and more, there could definitely be a colorful cast on hand to celebrate John Cena’s final bout.

2. Very Special Final Entrance
While other WWE stars are more synonymous with pyrotechnics or costuming, John Cena’s entrances have largely remained pretty straight forward over the years – with the exception of WrestleManias.
With any number of possibilities for John Cena’s final ring entrance, it will be intriguing to see what WWE has in store.
For example, it would be really fun to see all of the farewell tour shirts on display at once from Cena lookalikes as he makes his way to the ring.
No matter what specifics occur during the entrance, it will certainly be one that WWE fans are unlikely to forget.

1. GUNTHER Loses
While it seems that fans are potentially bracing for John Cena to lose his last WWE bout, there could be a surprise coming for the final match.
While it could make sense for there to be clear cut match with a clean finish on the night, perhaps John Cena has one last feat of sports entertainment magic left for the audience.
Potentially having a variety of run-ins, interferences and attempts at sabotage, there could be any number of WWE stars coming after GUNTHER or out to support Cena.
Cena may deliver a star making moment to the next biggest heel of a generation, or he could end his career on the ultimate high note of refusing to give up.
