With AEW Revolution right around the corner, there could be plenty of surprises in store for the Los Angeles based event.

While there are plenty of matches left to be announced for the event, there are already some intriguing potential surprises that could make a major impact.

Here are six surprises that could happen at AEW Revolution 2026.

6. Will Ospreay Costs MJF The AEW World Championship

AEW's Will Ospreay

With the twist that if Hangman Adam Page doesn’t win in this match against MJF at AEW Revolution he will never challenge for the World Title again, the haunted Cody Rhodes stipulation has been resurrected.

This is a storyline already that has already occurred in AEW, with Rhodes declaring the same self-imposed stipulation ahead of his AEW Full Gear 2019 World Title match against Jericho – Rhodes would go on to lose the bout and thereby never challenge for the title again.

With fan sentiment hotly debated about whether or not Hangman Adam Page is the main character of AEW, it could be that MJF ends up still losing the title – if another main character contender returns to the scene in the form of Will Ospreay.

After neck surgery in September 2025, Ospreay’s recovery has reportedly gone well and he may be looking to get back in the fold in time for All In London at Wembley Stadium.

5. Adam Copeland & Christian Cage Return

With the Los Angeles location being potentially the perfect place to see two of AEW’s biggest stars make their return, perhaps Adam Copeland and Christian Cage will make a return at Revolution 2026.

Being away from in-ring competition since AEW All Out 2025, the duo picked up the win over FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, but ultimately a post-match angle changed everything.

With FTR delivering a package piledriver on Copeland’s wife Beth (Beth Phoenix), Cope and Cage have yet to return to action.

Certainly able to pop up to challenge the now AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR, it would be a satisfying conclusion to the storyline to see FTR finally get their comeuppance.

4. AJ Styles Debuts

Despite the fact that WWE is hosting a tribute to AJ Styles on the February 23 episode of WWE Raw, that alone doesn’t mean that he couldn’t still sign with AEW.

Certainly making a massive impact if he were to rather quickly turn up in AEW, Revolution 2026 could be the perfect place to do it.

Styles could either arrive solo or potentially bring along long-time friends the Good Brothers – Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

Able to immediately form a trio that could become viable contenders for the AEW World Trios Championship as well as kick off a feud with The Elite, there could be a lot of magic for Styles in AEW even if it was only for a short time.

3. Chris Jericho Returns

While there have been reports that AEW could have frozen Chris Jericho’s contract and thereby creating a murky understanding of his availability, he’s still eligible to make a return.

If Jericho was to make a surprise comeback at AEW Revolution – particularly in light of so much speculation that he could be WWE bound – the move could reset the audience’s opinion of him.

With a fresh coat of paint on whatever character he chooses to return as, Jericho could find himself the returning hero to AEW, simply by electing not to leave.

While it remains a mystery what is next in professional wrestling for Jericho, he could seemingly show up anywhere at nearly any time.

2. Mercedes Mone Costs Babes Of Wrath The AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship

Willow Nightingale defeated Mercedes Moné to win the TBS Championship on the December 31 New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Dynamite before Mone suffered another humiliation the following week.

After she was embarrassed on the January 7 edition of Dynamite by the new champ as well as Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander after getting her face slammed into a cake, Mone has yet to return to AEW.

With reports that Mone was taking time off to heal from plaguing spine trouble, the multi-title holder is nearing a return to in-ring action.

Recently confirmed to be wrestling at the CMLL event on March 6 at Arena Mexico, Mone could be ready to be back in action in AEW in March as well – including popping up to haunt the Babes of Wrath who continue to hold the Women’s World Tag Team Title.

1. Swerve Strickland Costs Hangman Adam Page

Swerve Strickland and AEW rival Hangman Page

All good things must come to an end and it seems quite likely that at some point in the near future, the ceasefire between Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page will be broken.

With the self-imposed stipulation from Page that he may never challenge for the AEW World Championship again if he loses to MJF, it would make strategic sense for Swerve Strickland to ensure that Hangman loses the bout.

Knocking out one of his top rivals in Page, Strickland could move on to target MJF in a unique continuation of their ongoing rivalry or simply fade back and wait for the right time to strike.

With Swerve already establishing his willingness to take things to unimaginable heights in order to achieve his goals, turning on a former heated rival in order to secure a better future seems like a no-brainer move.
