On the April 4 episode of WWE AAA on FOX, Corey Graves announced that there would be “an influx of international stars to be competing in trios style matches in the weeks and months to come.”

Whether it be from WWE or AAA, there are a wide range of talent that are from all over the world that could take part in this series of matches, with Team Japan, Team Puerto Rico, Team UK and Team EU already

These international trios may allow for stars from all three brands of WWE and Lucha Libre AAA to compete in this series that will deliver some exciting matches in Mexico in the coming months.

Here are six new potential WWE AAA International trios teams.

6. Team Americano (El Grande, Rayo & Bravo Americano)

Ludwig Kaiser, Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate are now El Grande, Rayo & Bravo Americano

Los Americanos have been a consistent presence on both WWE and Lucha Libre AAA television over the past few months.

El Grande Americano has become one of the most popular stars in the entire Mexican promotion, while Bravo and Rayo have started making their mark on the tag team scene.

While they could be included in a number of different international trios depending on their identity, WWE and AAA would be best suited to make them their own trio altogether.

Considering their success in Mexico, Team Americano could have all the momentum to be leading the pack out of all the international trios.

5. Team USA (Jack Cartwheel, The Original El Grande Americano & TJ Perkins)

The United States have their own representatives in Lucha Libre AAA as of late across different divisions of the company.

The Original El Grande Americano has been embroiled in a feud with the other El Grande in recent weeks, including stealing his Rey de Reyes sword following the four-way match on March 14.

Meanwhile, the AAA Cruiserweight Title picture has had the likes of Jack Cartwheel and TJ Perkins playing prominent roles as of late.

Team USA could have The Original El Grande leading the way alongside TJP and Cartwheel, which would make them a formidable trio that could take down the competition.

4. Team Ireland (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh & Sheamus)

While Lucha Libre AAA has not featured a ton of talent from Europe, Ireland has a strong presence on the WWE main roster.

Finn Balor has been someone who has reached the top of WWE over the course of his 12 year run with the promotion after making his name in Japan for NJPW.

Sheamus is another star who is considered a pioneer and has had one of the more lengthier runs of any Irishman to step foot in a WWE ring, while JD McDonagh is one of the newest stars from Ireland who has been turning heads over his own seven year stint with WWE.

Pitting Balor, Sheamus and McDonagh together could see them completely overwhelm the competition with their combination of experience, speed, agility and strength.

3. Team Scotland (Drew McIntyre, Joe Hendry & Noam Dar)

Just across from Ireland is Scotland, which has its own collection of talent that have put the country on the map in WWE.

At the head of this international trio would be Drew McIntyre, who is a multi-time WWE World Champion and one of the biggest stars in the business today.

Meanwhile, Joe Hendry has become one of the most popular talents to come from Scotland in a while with his viral success due to his signature theme song.

Team Scotland could be completed with Noam Dar, who has been a dependable in-ring performer for the NXT brand over the past decade, making this trio a group that every other unit would have to fear.

2. Team AAA (Mr Iguana, La Parka & Rey Mysterio)

Mr Iguana is one half of the current AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions with Lola Vice

With this series of international trios matches taking place in Lucha Libre AAA, it seems appropriate to give the country of Mexico two different teams.

Team AAA could be led by a bonafide living legend and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.

Meanwhile, two of the very best from AAA could join Mysterio in Mr Iguana and La Parka, who will be offering their exciting styles inside the squared circle to this trio.

Mysterio, Iguana and Parka represent different eras of AAA and could make them the trio to beat in this international series.

1. Team Mexico (Penta, Rey Fenix & El Hijo del Vikingo)

The Lucha Bros’ planned reunion in AAA in late 2025 was canceled due to an injury to Penta

Then to really mix things up, Lucha Libre AAA could also assemble a trio representing the country of Mexico on its own.

Penta has made his way back to AAA in recent weeks and now holds the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Joining Penta on Team Mexico could be his brother and Friday Night SmackDown star Rey Fenix. Bringing the Lucha Bros together for the first time in years would be a wonderful hook for this series of international trios matches.

Completing Team Mexico could be El Hijo del Vikingo, who would certainly add some friction to this trio to make them a must watch team that fans will have to keep their eyes on.
