6 Former AEW Champions To Sign With WWE

With 2025 coming to a close, several former AEW champions could be moving closer to the end of their contracts and a move to WWE.

From the company’s very first world champion to a pair of former tag team champions, there are a lot of potential new WWE signees headed in from AEW in 2026.

Here are six former AEW Champions that could be set to sign with WWE.

6. Chris Jericho

The first-ever AEW World Champion could soon be headed back to WWE if reports prove true that Chris Jericho is set to re-sign with WWE when his AEW contract expires.

With reports stating that Jericho will be a free agent at the end of 2025, it could be that there is an imminent return for Jericho in the build to WrestleMania 42.

Able to arrive in the Royal Rumble for the Riyadh debut of the annual event, Jericho could also ring in the new year on the January 2 edition of SmackDown.

While it remains to be seen what latest iteration of Jericho may emerge, fans are anticipating a return to WWE in the near future.

5. Private Party

Former AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) haven’t been seen in AEW since they lost their titles to Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin back in January 2025.

While there were reports that their contracts may end with AEW over the summer, it seems the pair remain with Tony Khan’s company for the time being.

With reported interest from WWE in signing the pair, it seems to be a matter of time before the duo join the rebuilding NXT tag team division.

Boasting TV ready characters with an interactive fan entrance, Private Party could end up as top stars in NXT in 2026.

4. Britt Baker

Britt Baker’s lengthy absence from AEW has raised eyebrows and led to speculation about her future with the company however, Tony Khan has recently commented.

During his appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Khan spoke of his fondness for Baker and certainly seemed to make it sound as though she could return in the near future.

However, Baker has been largely quiet about her absence, contract status or plans for the future.

Although she is seemingly unavailable to make the leap at the minute, she could someday find herself following in the footsteps of Jade Cargill and Mariah May (now Blake Monroe) and signing with WWE.

3. Paige (Saraya)

Even before she officially departed AEW in March, fans were already speculating about former AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya making a return to WWE.

Not ruling out a return to her Paige character, she could be an amazing  surprise entrant in a future Royal Rumble.

With the Royal Rumble 2026 coming to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the first time, it would make sense to see both the men’s and women’s matches heavy on nostalgic favorites and legends.

Being the perfect choice for a surprise return to the ring, there could be a whole new chapter to AJ Lee’s rivalry and friendship with Paige in WWE.

2. Powerhouse Hobbs

A former AEW TNT Champion as well as AEW Trios Champion, Powerhouse Hobbs is still on the rise in professional wrestling.

Definitely able to join WWE and make his main event presence known, Powerhouse Hobbs would be an amazing get for the company.

With no specific reporting regarding when Hobbs’ current contract with AEW is up, certainly whenever the time comes the talented star will have options.

Certainly able to rise to the occasion in singles as well as tag team action, Hobbs’ impressive size and stature could leave a huge mark in WWE in the coming years.

1. MJF

A former AEW World Champion that is seemingly still locked in with AEW for a few more years is MJF.

While there isn’t any specific reporting regarding when MJF’s current contract ends with AEW, it does seem likely MJF may sign with WWE in the future given his young age and crossover appeal.

Depending on when he signs, there are already built-in storylines from his days in AEW with CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Ricky Saints, in addition to a whole roster of unfamiliar faces.

Possibly making the leap in the next few years, MJF could end up making his debut in WWE and immediately establishing himself as a top guy.
