6 AEW Stars To Turn Babyface

AEW's Young Bucks

With characters shifting all the time in professional wrestling, it could be that some AEW stars may be set to turn babyface.

From some that seem unlikely at present, to others who’s turn may already be underway — there could be some fascinating switch ups in AEW soon.

Here are six AEW stars that could potentially turn babyface.

6. Marina Shafir

While she has been the steady hand in the Death Riders faction for some time, perhaps a change in character could be up ahead for Marina Shafir.

In a unlikely babyface turn, there could be a shocking moment in the future if Marina Shafir decides to turn babyface.

Potentially being revealed in the future as being aligned with Jon Moxley but not the entire Death Riders stable — it could be that, in the event something changes with Mox and the group, it could change for Shafir as well.

Certainly with the ability to have the audience get behind her on a potential singles run after being cast aside by Moxley, the Death Riders or both — Shafir could be the mysterious female anti-hero that hasn’t been explored in AEW.

5. Jay White

Although he has already received a babyface crowd response for the most part, “Switchblade” Jay White may return from injury even more over as a good guy.

While White has been out of action since March 2025, his in-ring return could reunite he and Juice Robinson, who along with The Gunns make up a delightfully obnoxious group: the Bang Bang Gang.

Since it has been quite some time since all four members of the squad were active at the same time, there is space for the trio to take on the now heel AEW trios champions, The Opps.

Possibly setting the stage for a series of enjoyable matches, it remains unclear when Jay White will return to action.

4. Deonna Purrazzo

After making an impressive initial run in AEW, Deonna Purrazzo’s character has not factored heavily in the AEW women’s division in quite some time.

While she has appeared periodically in ROH in 2025, Deonna Purrazzo has yet to return to AEW TV this year after a pair of Collision bouts in January.

There may have been a path forward with the introduction of the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship however the bracket for the tournament is officially without the tag team of Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie.

Hopefully excluded for a reason, Purrazzo would be able to return as a babyface with plenty of stories left to tell in AEW.

3. Young Bucks

Although they have been heels for quite some time, it could be that the Young Bucks may become babyfaces again in the future.

With the return of their Being The Elite series on YouTube and continued attempts to chase money at all costs — there could be a moral lesson incoming for the continually downtrodden Bucks.

While they recently did not assist Kenny Omega in attempting to protect Jurassic Express from being jumped by FTR — there was at least a small pause to indicate a slight moral dilemma for the pair of Jacksons.

Possibly finding a renewed zest for the business as well as friendship in their hearts, there could be a heartwarming Elite reunion in 2026.

2. Taya Valkyrie

One star that hasn’t seen a lot of AEW action as of late that could make a huge contribution with a character pivot is Taya Valkyrie.

Finding herself left out of the AEW Women’s Tag Team title tournament, Taya Valkyrie continues to appear in her more heel-like iteration in ROH.

Linking up with Lady Frost for a series of bouts in CMLL in March, Valkyrie later became a member of MxM TV along with husband Johnny TV and the MxM duo Mace and Mansoor.

Possibly able to make a return after her recent loss to unsigned talent Olympia on Collision, Valkyrie could switch up her character from what she’s become known for.

1. Konosuke Takeshita

AEW stars Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada

While he may have lost the AEW International Championship to Kenny Omega at AEW Revolution,  Konosuke Takeshita would go on to find a new title to claim.

Currently the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, there seems to be a general simmering conflict with his Don Callis Family stablemate, Kazuchika Okada.

With the duo joining forces in an attempt to best Bandido at AEW WrestleDream 2025 for the AEW World Tag Team Championship, their hopes were dashed when the champs retained.

Definitely a storyline to keep an eye on, it seems like Takeshita could be one of the members of the Don Callis Family that could split off and find footing with other babyfaces.
