5 WWE Title Changes Coming Soon

With the exception of the Men’s and Women’s Crown Jewel Championships, none of WWE’s active titles were defended at the recent PLE in Perth.

However, with two Saturday Night’s Main Event shows and Survivor Series still to come before the end of the year, we’re almost certain to see some championship gold change hands in 2025.

Which titles could be next?

WrestleTalk considers the possibilities.

5. AJ Lee Defeats Becky Lynch For Women’s Intercontinental Championship

Former Divas Champion AJ Lee returned to WWE programming last month after a 10-year absence.

Teaming with her husband CM Punk to feud with Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, Lee made it clear during their interactions that she’s coming after Lynch’s Intercontinental Title — even going as far as to steal the belt.

Lee has not appeared on WWE programming since she and Punk defeated Lynch and Rollins at Wrestlepalooza last month, but it seems likely she’ll establish a singles programme with the IC Champion when she does return.

The odds are high that Lee will soon capture the Women’s Intercontinental Title for the first time in her career.

4. John Cena Becomes Intercontinental Champion

John Cena is a 17-time world champion in WWE, a five-time US Champion, and has held multiple versions of the tag team titles throughout his career.

One title he has never captured, however, is the Intercontinental Championship.

With his in-ring career coming to an end on 13 December, time appears to be running out for Cena to finally win the one title that has eluded him — but he may still get the opportunity.

According to the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Cena is set to take on current IC Champion Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series — and we could finally see him capture the championship that has escaped him for 25 years.

3. Jade Cargill Wins WWE Women’s Championship

Jade Cargill was brought into WWE from AEW with much fanfare in October 2023, with many expecting her to be pushed straight to the top of the division and become a world champion.

That, however, has not yet happened.

Since April, on the SmackDown brand, the 33-year-old has been feuding with Tiffany Stratton, failing on multiple occasions to capture the WWE Women’s World Championship.

However, the feud continues, and reports suggest she will get another shot in a one-on-one bout with Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event on 1 November — and it seems very likely that this will finally be the night Cargill becomes world champion.

2. Solo Sikoa Regains United States Championship

Sami Zayn’s recent run with the US Title and his weekly open challenges have been one of the standout highlights of WWE programming over the past month.

How long that reign will last, however, is another question.

On the 10 October edition of SmackDown, Tama Tonga returned, attacking Zayn during his match with Shinsuke Nakamura as MFT faction leader Solo Sikoa looked on.

The angle clearly foreshadowed Sikoa coming after the title he lost to Zayn in August — and it appears more likely than not that a second reign with the belt is on the horizon.

1. CM Punk Wins World Heavyweight Championship

CM Punk captured the WWE World Championship at SummerSlam after defeating Gunther.

His reign, however, was cut short when Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to steal the title.

Since then, Punk has yet to face Rollins one-on-one to recapture the title — but that appears likely to change at Saturday Night’s Main Event on 1 November.

While the storyline seems to be building towards Punk regaining the championship and avenging the theft, whether that happens as soon as SNME is uncertain — WWE may choose to hold off the payoff until WrestleMania next year.
