Factions are a highly effective device in WWE and professional wrestling, allowing for dynamic character development and layered, long-term rivalries.
Traditionally, inter-factional tension eventually culminates in one member breaking away and emerging as a star in their own right.
Classic WWE examples include The Rock’s rise from the Nation of Domination, Batista’s breakout from Evolution, and Seth Rollins’ betrayal of The Shield.
Here are WWE stars currently in factions who could break out and become major singles stars.
5. Dragon Lee

With Rey Mysterio’s groin injury, the LWO appears to have run its course.
Of its remaining members, Dragon Lee looks the most likely breakout star.
Since arriving in WWE in 2023, the 29-year-old luchador has captured both the NXT North American Championship and the Speed Championship – though he has yet to reach the in-ring heights he achieved in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, AAA, and Ring of Honor.
An incredible talent, now could be the time to pull the trigger – have him exit the LWO and strap the rocket to his back.

4. Myles Borne

Myles Borne scored a surprise victory in the battle royal on the May 6 edition of NXT, outlasting a field stacked with bigger star names.
With that win, he’s earned the right to challenge NXT Champion Oba Femi.
The result has intensified existing tensions within the No Quarter Catch Crew – issues between Borne and group leader Charlie Dempsey.
Backed by WWE legend Randy Orton – who recently voiced support for the 25-year-old in an interview – Borne could be poised to break away and become the faction’s breakout star.

3. Charlie Dempsey

On the other hand, it could just as easily be No Quarter Catch Crew leader Charlie Dempsey who breaks out from the faction as a singles star.
A polished and highly skilled in-ring technician, Dempsey has sharpened his craft in recent years with standout performances in All Japan Pro Wrestling and on Josh Barnett’s shoot-style Bloodsport shows.
Reintroducing his father, William Regal, as his manager – mirroring Regal’s recent AEW role with the Blackpool Combat Club – could elevate Dempsey further.
The faction’s breakup seems imminent; the real question is, who will shine brighter in WWE – Dempsey or Borne? It’s worth mentioning that Tavion Heights and Wren Sinclair could end up being stars in their own rights as well.

2. Osiris Griffin

Since being introduced to NXT programming, the DarkState faction have run roughshod over the roster.
Styled in the mould of The Shield, they defeated tag team champions Hank and Tank – who were teaming with Joe Hendry – in a six-man tag on the May 6 edition of NXT.
Of the four members, Osiris Griffin has stood out – his imposing presence and aggressive move set especially impressive considering he’s had fewer than 20 matches.
While it’s far too early to break up the group, Griffin looks like a clear candidate to be a future WWE breakout star.

1. Jacob Fatu

At Backlash, Jacob Fatu stood out as the most over star in a four-way match for the United States Title against Drew McIntyre, LA Knight, and Damian Priest.
With his wild, unhinged intensity and undeniable charisma, Fatu has been wholly embraced by WWE’s audience.
The arrival of New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Jeff Cobb joining The Bloodline at the event has only increased the likelihood that a full-blown Bloodline civil war is on the horizon.
A future where Fatu defeats Bloodline leader Solo Sikoa and breaks out on his own now seems more likely than ever.
