5 Things WWE Must NOT Do When Raw Becomes TV-14

Just recently it has been revealed that Monday Night Raw is going to move to a TV-14 rating relatively soon.

A move from TV-PG to TV-14 has been demanded by fans for many years and a lot of opportunities arise with this rating.

However, with TV-14 WWE could also go down a dark path. But, since the 1990s and early 2000s society has thankfully progressed.

A few things are unacceptable and we can only hope that WWE will NEVER bring them back to TV again.

HLA

HLA stands for “Hot Lesbian Action”. Yes, you heard me right.

In one of the most pathetic attempts of a tv-ratings grab in 2002, then General Manager Eric Bischoff announced HLA for his wrestling show.

During the entire broadcast, it was promoted that two women would make out in the ring, only to be attacked by 3-Minute-Warning before things could happen.

The entire stunt was heavily criticized by the TV networks and rightfully so. Never bring back HLA again.

Live Sex Celebration

Edge and Lita hosted a live sex celebration segment on MondayNight Raw after Edge successfully cashed in on John Cena at New Year’s Revolution 2006.

WWE pushed all boundaries, even for a TV-14 product, and pushed ahead to produce this segment.

According neither Lita or Edge wanted to do the segment, but Vince McMahon forced them to do so.

Not even John Cena, who interrupted the segment on the show, was able to talk McMahon out of it.

Another Katie Vick Storyline

In 2002 one of the most disgusting things in wrestling ever took place.

During the World Heavyweight Championship feud between Kane and Triple H, the latter accused Kane of necrophilia.

He put on a mask and proceeded to jump into a coffin with a dead body inside to….proof his point, I guess. There is no way you can write this up in a serious way.

Whatever WWE attempted here. It failed and was neither funny nor entertaining in any way and it should never happen again.

Matches And Segments Degrading Women

For years WWE produced Bra and Panties matches as well as Bikini Contests.

WWE did not view their female performers as athletes, they put them out there in the ring as objects.

Let’s all hope this remains a thing of the past while the women continue to regularly outperform the men.

Chair Shots To The Head

Back in the day chair shots to the head were the regular thing to do.

One of the most brutal spots in the TV-14 era continued on until at least 2004, when the Chris Benoit case forced WWE to enforce harder rules on open attacks to the head.

These days chair shots to the head have thankfully become extremely rare in the entire industry. Usually, the chair shot to the back does the trick.

A chair shot to the head does make things feel more brutal as the sound of it echos through the arena. Still, the price for the wrestlers to pay is just too high.
